Yaay! Celebrating the first lie in of the hols 😃. Working in a special needs school is defo the toughest but most rewarding of jobs so I’m grateful to be back to it. Although I’ve worked out due to ongoing health issues I’ve only worked just over a month since September 🙀. Fingers crossed that nothing else crops up next year 🤞🏼. Today's brunch 🍴 About to chow down on this plate of breakfast tacos and I'm pretty darn excited about it. It’s actually pretty simple, I just used some: - scrambled eggs - sautéed spinach - @trulocal bacon - avocado - tomato - tortillas Looking at the amount of food on this plate would have made me anxious back it the day. "It's too much food", "bacon is bad for you", "don't eat carbs". So I would eat a smaller meal or a smaller serving size, but in the end, I would be left hungry and looking for a snack within hours of eating. Eating well is NOT about eating less or eating smaller meals. In fact, the idea that you can “boost" your metabolism by simply eating smaller meals more often is a bunch of nutrition BS. Your metabolism is not a thing, it doesn't live in your armpit, it is the sum of thousands of processes in your body including food, sleep, stress, age, and many, many other factors. So thinking smaller meals will "boost" it is simplistic at best. When you eat, you should a meal that satisfies you and will keep you going for multiple hours. If you are hungry 1, 2 or 3 hours after eating, you've missed the point. It’s not about eating less, it’s about eating more food at your actual meals and less snacks. Stop looking for healthy snack ideas, you don’t need them, you just need to eat more REAL food at your actual meals! 👊 #redsrecommendations

***FOOD POST NO. 2*** 🌭🍳🧀 • I’ve really been enjoying have a variety of protein, fats and carbs within my meals. After listening to @thefoodmedic and @thenutritional_advocate on their podcast, I’ve decided to try and follow a few simple rules to eating: • 1.eating more healthy fats than carbs instead of cutting my carbs WAY down. You still need carbs for digestion and energy. But I’ve always been afraid to up my fat intake. Not anymore 💁🏼‍♀️ • Ensuring that while eating, I keep my biggest meals of the day before 3/3.30pm. So that when dinner comes, I can eat it lightly and not feel overly bloated especially if I’m at the gym later on. • Times of eating. I am VERY good at timing myself when it comes to food. I usually tend to feel hungry every 3 hours but then I sometimes realised I was eating every 3 hours for the sake of if and that no I don’t need to eat every 3-4 hours. Drinking water helps suppress appetite so sometimes you may not even me hungry just thirsty! This also means making sure I’ve had my dinner by 7.30 LATEST! So that I can ensure my body goes at least 10/11 hours without food causing a ‘fasting’ period within my body while sleeping. • LOTS OF SLEEP. 7/7.5 hours sleep is exactly what I need to ensure I’m not overly tired. I also learnt from @thenutritional_advocate that ‘catching up on sleep’ isn’t that great for you. That your body should respond to light and dark to know when is bed time. I also know that with no sleep my anxiety is high. • First picture is my lunch from yesterday 😂 Mushrooms, spinach, two @lindamccartneyfoods sausages and a halloumi burger on the side 😍 (I forgot my avocado😞😞) • Second picture was my #preworkout breakfast from this morning! Mushrooms, spinach, backed beans and two poached eggs. Hello hello and happy Saturday! ☀️ drooling over this LOADED stack of pancakes this morning! 🤤🥞 I picked up some bee pollen the other day from @unsqgreenmarket and decided to sprinkle a few granules on top of my pancakes and they are so delicious! They contain a slightly sweet, slightly floral flavor and are also a little chewy! I love the added flavor the bee pollen adds so if you haven’t tried it yet, I highly encourage it! 🍯 Recipe for oatmeal pancakes: 1 cup rolled oats 1/2 ripe banana 1 cup almond milk 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp flaxseed (optional) Add all ingredients into a blender and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the baking powder to react aka makes your pancakes supa fluffayyyyyy!
