Triggers for happiness vary from people to people. One of my happiness triggers is helping people. I do genuinely get a real thrill out of it (helping people, that is, not being taken advantage of). So you can imagine how thrilled I was to be able to help a fellow mehndi artist when she needed someone to step in at the last minute to cover her bridal henna booking.
I had the challenge of completing a bridal henna in 4 hours, including intricate details upto the elbows with a bride and groom figure.
I was actually quite nervous about this as I didn’t think it was doable in the time. I have to admit I sped up a bit from a pace that I am comfortable with.
I need not have been nervous! The bride and her family were extremely hospitable and kept me fed and watered throughout. They loved my work from the moment I did the first few strokes and were very excited that I was returning the next day to do the guest henna. The bride ended up giving me the freedom to carry on beyond the 4hrs she had budgeted for with the original artist.
I was really pleased with the outcome. I did go over by 15 mins, but I still think it was a reasonable time. The bride and her family was overjoyed and the bride kept saying it was way better than what she had expected. She was also understandably nervous to begin with (as I was a substitute) but was over the moon as I progressed with my work.
I was really chuffed that I could help out an artist and make her client really happy. All good stuff!!
