Let’s talk false eyelashes
Whether you’re blessed with naturally voluminous lashes or not, false eyelashes can add tremendously to your makeup look in a matter of minutes. **Read until the end for my pro tip** First, you need to decide which effect you’d like to achieve; discreet, eye widening, a cat eye, glamorous.
There are so many options. If you want a natural look, go with lashes that follow the curve of your own lashes and are the same length as your own. If you’re going for a more open look, add length in the middle of the eye and for a cat eye, add length at the outer corners. For glamour, add length and thickness and a coat of mascara on top. Personally, I preferer to use individual cluster lashes because they are fully customisable and look like real lashes, they blend seamlessly while providing wispy volume. Also, they are so lightweight and natural-looking, by the time someone comments on how full your lashes look, you'll forget you even had them on. 😉 Another great thing about individual lash clusters is that they last a LOT longer. If you lose a cluster or two, it won't ruin your look. (Although that is unlikely, they're pretty firmly welded on) As part of your wedding makeup, full strip lashes aren’t 100% reliable, with the amount of crying that happens. When the inner corner starts to lift off, they are not secure anymore. Corner lashes are a good half way between if you want an easier option to put on yourself.
As a bridal makeup artist I use mixtures of length and thicknesses in each application to ensure it’s bespoke for each client. There are so many different types of false lashes that can be tailored to exactly what you're looking for. It's all about picking the right type and knowing how to apply them :) Pro tip: If you want to correct the shape of your eyes, individual lashes in the right thickness and length will do wonders. Experiment, use lashes as you would eyeliner to create depth and drama and have fun!
