I really wanted to say some offensive things about this pic but gimme a minute. First I want to shout out some of my friends who attended this school, I know yal have some amazing memories held in this space, an you have become citizens who could duct yourself better than those who had it better than us in the surrounding schools that had all the MONEY! Our neighborhoods provide landmarks for us to time travel per say, and nostalgia. I didn't go to this school, I went to the school up the street. My school was predominantly caucasian populated and since has always been, which is why IT'S STILL OPEN smh!
When I saw this, I literally jumped out in disbelief. I was so angry, because right down the street they are destroying Peter G Noll. My issue has nothing to do with the people who lived there getting by making the best of life and creating long lasting memories whether times were hellish or like heaven. My issue is our neighborhood school and core subsidizing opportunity is being destroyed. Wherever BLACK or BROWN or LOWER INCOME people reside or go to school is always the first to go by some suburban white male who thinks he understands how communities should be uniquely put together, YOU DON'T, GO SIT DOWN!
I was in Chicago hangin out with a very hard working pastor who told me 3 public schools were shut down and right here in KY and all over the sane selfush people are making these decisions. There's plenty of money to uphold these special people and places yet we have leaders who still think SLAVERY is ok, and they make these calls behind our backs, like there will never be repercussions. So they knock down bull doze, and so spend money on who they think best fits their VISION. But GOD, he has a plan and vision for our life's and we're not left out, and we don't have to accept any of this anymore...
THIS IS NOT A COMPLAINT, I just need you lower income, brown & black skinned people to understand how our leadership (local governement) really feel about us. They made their MONEY do what was in their hearts. #aprinasrevolutionarylove #newport #kentucky #gentrification #racism #black #brown #people #injustice
