Often called ‘The Fork’ this is the Monument to the Victims of the National Liberation War. Photo with thanks to @architectonictravels
who takes such wonderful photos and explained a bit more in response to my question about how big it was (I was looking at the houses beyond the monument. “ Actually, it’s not that big. I make a point of searching for spomeniks when I got to the Balkans. Normally I plan in advance and hire a car but on this occasion I caught a bus from Podgorica, it’s only about 5 miles away from the city and is situated at the entrance to the village, on the roadside as you say. I was drawn to this one because of its unusual design!” And a thank you to @dijana_vucinic
who shares “It symbolically shows the place where partisans were hanged by fascists. The spomenik was created by Svetlana Kana Radevic back in the early 70s. There is also this message engraved into concrete base: "Look at the sun above this hill, may its light warn you what it is like to be in the darkness."
