Dining table finally arrived! 🙌🏼✨
A bit of morning “floorspiration”. It won’t be long (🤞🏼 for early next week) until we will be pouring our slab. Now, I do looovve 😍 me the look of a fully cut and #polishedconcrete
floor with exposed aggregate but after much careful deliberation we decided.....or should I say....after a few domestics Matt won the concrete floor debate 😂 But to be honest after taking into consideration the costs involved we decided a full grind was just too much 🤑 so we’ve opted to go with a “burnished” concrete finish like the Pinterest pics 👆🏼 (p.s did I mention Matt hates Pinterest with a passion 😉😂 I think like most hubbys). I’ve decided I like the idea of a bit more of a natural, #industrial
, rustic, and certainly much more cost effective finish!! And better still my clever Hubster can do the whole thing himself 👌🏼👌🏼 He’s done a lot and I mean A LOT of concreting in his time but this will be his first attempt at a #burnishedconcrete
finish so a little nervous but super excited to see what he can do. Will def be putting photos up of the result....so keeping fingers and toes crossed that it works out ok👷🏻♂️ #builder #concreter #concretefloors #polishedconcrete #builderswife #whirlybird
I really wanted a front door with a 70's feel as a little retro throw back to when the house was originally built. I also wanted it to be canary yellow or pale pink but Gav picked a supplier that provided neither colour, funny that!!🤔😂
We have gone for a PVC composite door in a silver grey, and the style we have chosen is actually really popular at the minute, but if your sad like me and don't mind spending your free time researching front doors from 5 decades ago you will see that this particular style was all the rage way back then!! Door styles in vogue at the time were simplistic and tended to feature either a long rectangular glass panel or smaller square/rectangular glass panels, usually in threes. The glass was normally lightly frosted or clear.
We are opting for a lightly frosted glass and are centralising the front door and including a long rectangular glass panel on either side of the door to let in as much light as possible.
We are also going with black french doors for the porch. This is a bit of a controversial decision as it is very much a modern feature. When the houses were first built the porches were open in a canopy style with the garage wall on one side and a metal frame on the other to hold the roof up. Some houses in the Estate still have these and I love how they look but have also grown to love having a porch. In the winter months it's nice to have something to step into while opening the front door and it also gives me another 'room' to decorate💃❤

Happy Monday Farm Friends! So we are finally in our farmhouse and I am loving it! My entire home is basically a blank canvas. Why you ask? When we sold our last home the buyers bought the majority of our furniture which was a blessing (we didn’t have to move it). So with the new house I get to start fresh and pick all new furniture for every room. The first room I am starting with is my master bedroom. As you can see I have just a bed frame which I ordered off @amazon.
We have used this for the last 2 years while we were living in our apartment. That being said I am still trying to find a king bed and I have had no luck. So I decided to ask the hubs to build us one. I know he is super busy but I know my husband will do a excellent job plus that means I can paint or stain it anyway I want. My creative juices are flowing! I am excited to share with you how our home comes together! Stay tune! #blankspace #empty #masterbedroom #amazon #bedframe #excited #husbandandwife #builderswife #rockfamily #rockfamilyfarm #readytodecorate #farmhouse #farmhousestyle #farmhousebedroom #kingbed #re3builders
So hard to start an Introduction without sounding like an Ad on a dating website🙈 I'm Katie, I'm from Dublin and married to Gav, he's the ying to my yang, a carpenter and all round builder extraordinaire💙
This is our house, a typical 1970's 3 bed semi🏡 It's in an estate in an area that we both grew up in. We always wanted to buy here but couldn't afford to when we first started house hunting back in 2014. Instead of waiting and saving some more we decided to take a risk and buy a starter home with the intention of flipping it when the time was right. 2 years later the market had gone insane and we decided to take advantage, our little starter home went up for sale with the first viewing being held the day we jetted off on Honeymoon!!
We quickly found a buyer but not another house so had to move in with my very patient Mammy until we found the perfect home! Luckily in May of 2017 we got the keys to this bad boy - a very tired, never ending fixer upper with buckets of potential🤗
Since then we have spent a lot of time doing all the boring jobs that are needed when you buy a house this old and tired - rewiring, replumbing, insulating and basically making it liveable!
Last month we started a large renovation and remodeling project which involves knocking down the garage and building a double story extension in it's place with a ground floor kitchen extension been built across the back of the house.
Over the past year or so I have spent a lot of free time on my personal Instagram glimpsing into the lovely homes of so many fab accounts and it's encouraged me to share our own little journey so here we are making our own house into a home❤

Still pinching myself that this vision came to life 🙌🏼🖤 #indexandco
I love how a simple houseplant can add a pop of color and texture to a room with such simplicity. It makes me excited to start thinking about planning our next home and everything it entails. 🏡 Dont get me wrong, I dont enjoy the actual moving process, 😳😒 but the planning, picking everything out, and watching it all come together make it all worth it!🙌
✨ That glorious 5 minutes when you’re all caught up on the laundry... 🤣 Haha never happens, there’s another load in the machine of course 🤦🏼♀️
