DEDICATION ✅ I use to blow up my feed holding myself accountable for my group with scale pictures updates on weightloss... Now it is quite the opposite. I am SUPER excited to be on the other side.. I use to exercise excessively and eat a low calorie diet (about 1000) to bounce back and maintain after babies.. Weighing in at 115-120lbs. . This round after babies 3&4 I dropped the baby weight and immediately went looking for gains.. Ate more high protein foods and joined the gym. I was skeptical at first and I almost quit several times as I watched the scale go back up. Thankfully, I stuck with this goal. I dropped 54lbs after a year of meal prep, eating clean 100% and doing only cardio. Then on to gain 14lbs back after 15 months in the gym lifting and eating 80/20, 2000+ calories a day. Who remembers this part of my journey?💥 . Joined my most recent challenge with 1Up Nutrition (rnd 1) and lost weight (7lbs) again even with though I am on the bulking program, eating a ton, taking supplements/vitamins and staying at 2600 calories a day. The 5-6 days of 30 minute HIIT Cardio was probably to blame.😉 So now we are in round 2 - week 5 of 8, and I am only doing 2-3 days of 20 minute cardio, core 4-5 days a week, working out 5-6 days a week, and I have gained the 6lbs back. Yes!!! This is a win for me. I can finally see muscle in my legs, bottom and shoulders. My abs are still hiding but I hope to see those soon. When or if you feel like quitting look back at where you started. IT won't happen overnight.. Keep going!! Why do you want to become better? Back day- I paired the machine pullover with the reverse pull downs to really work my lower lats. Thats usually a weak point for back development. The pull overs is probably the only exercise that does require bicep activation. I do them underhand to eliminate tricep activation. With my lats already on fire moving to the reverse pull downs allows me to get a stretch, squeeze and contraction with my lats and mid back. My feet are behind me to simulate an underhand pull up which I feel more in my lats than when my knees are in front of me. With both exercises the goal is to fully stretch with control and concentrate on feeling it in the lats and don’t be in a rush to just do the movement. INTUITIVE EATING VS. TRACKING MACROS⁣ ⁣ In simple terms, intuitive eating is an approach to eating that involves eating based on your internal cues of hunger and fullness. Intuitive eaters trust their body’s internal cues to help guide their food choices and eat based on satisfaction and nourishment.⁣ ⁣ Tracking macros, or macronutrients, involves tracking your caloric intake and the macronutrient (proteins, carbs, and fats) composition of the foods you are eating. Those who track macros make food choices based on a set caloric goal and macronutrient ratio, and eat with the intention of achieving those goals.⁣ ⁣ When I was learning about these two different approaches earlier in my journey, I found a lot of websites pushing one approach over the other, although neither is bad. I want to emphasize that it is important to find an approach that works best for YOU, which may be intuitive eating, tracking macros, or another approach.⁣ ⁣ Ultimately, the principles of weight loss and weight gain will still apply - being in a caloric deficit results in weight loss, being in a caloric surplus results in weight gain, and being in neither will result in staying the same weight.⁣ ⁣ Who would I recommend intuitive eating to?⁣ ⁣ People who:⁣ ⁣ -have a good understanding of nutrition and healthy eating habits⁣ ⁣ -are in tune with their body’s internal cues of hunger and fullness⁣ ⁣ -are psychologically drained from tracking macros and/or strict dieting⁣ ⁣ -are not looking to achieve aesthetic goals⁣ ⁣ -need to heal a poor relationship with food⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Who would I recommend tracking macros to?⁣ ⁣ People who:⁣ ⁣ -are looking to lose/gain weight or achieve aesthetic goals⁣ ⁣ -need more guidance on nutrition and/or portion control⁣ ⁣ -like a more structured approach to nutrition⁣ ⁣ -have a good relationship with food⁣ ⁣ -can track their intake without becoming anxious, obsessive, self-critical⁣ ⁣ Finally, your approach to eating doesn’t have to be black or white. I track macros for most meals, and eat intuitively when I can’t track my macros during meals out or the like. I found that this has allowed me to achieve my aesthetic goals and have structure and flexibility in my diet!
