The salmon is pan-fried with the skin being coated with some floor, supposedly giving the extra crunch, but ended up weighing the whole chunk of salmon skin down. Nonetheless the salmon meat is moist and well cooked. Accompanied mini salad with vinaigrette dressing. Their fries are very nicely done. Eat them while they are hot, super additive. The dish comes with a couple of sauces to choose from & you can add $2 for one additional side. So tempting to order 2 portion of their French Fries

What you see is what you get for its price. I was rather disappointed with the serving size as I remembered them being more generous with their portions. The Speculoos ice cream was creamy and went well with the cookies. The cookies were baked well and was soft and moist when it went into my mouth. I didn’t really enjoy the addition of nuts and the entire dish was generally quite heaty so do get ready a few cups of water! ☺️

Chill Thursday. Why head out when I have a million dollar view and air con ? Cool Chili southern bun from Hafudog for lunch. Wasn’t expecting the serving be that big. Kurobuta spicy pork sausage topped with cucumber raita, I would say the opposing flavours have pleased my soul.
These adorable little choux buns are available from Shuu Choux, same lot as Sandwich Shack in Raffles City and are only SGD2 each! This bun is filled with Bailey and a white Chocolate cream (swipe to check it out!). The pastry is chewy and the sugar coating delightfully crunchy. being two of the more well known burger joints. had the chance to try hambaobao recently. most of its burgers are priced at $5 or $5.50, with a top up of $1.50 for freshly cut french fries.
pictured is the pulled pork burger. ($5) their most popular item seems to be the crispy pork belly burger, but since i don’t particularly fancy sio bak i ordered this instead.
my experience with pulled pork burgers has been quite varied. on one end, nothing beats the pulled pork sanger from @burntends_sg
, one of my favourite burgers. on the other end, i have eaten burgers with dry meat that falls apart on the first bite. a true disappointment.
there are things i liked and disliked about this burger. the pork tasted strongly of cumin and cinnamon - perhaps an attempt at replicating the famous Xi’an 肉夹馍. some restraint could have been taken with the cinnamon, though, as its flavour overpowered the rest of the ingredients in the burger. the pork maintained its structural integrity and did not disintegrate into a pile of shreds. however, i felt that it was too dry and the burger would have benefited from more liberal saucing.
as i ate the burger i was all ready to give it a scathing review. however, sitting on the round stool in the muggy afternoon heat, sipping a cup of cold sugarcane juice and thinking about other similar burgers i had eaten, i realized it would be unfairly harsh. for the price of $5, you simply cannot get another burger of this quality that is freshly made unless you head to a fast food joint. i don’t mean to set standards lower for hawker centre food, but at this price point it would be unfair to overly criticize. seeing the team of 3 behind the counter scurrying around toasting buns, preparing meat and assembling burgers, you can really see the effort they put into fulfilling every order. perhaps not the burger for me, but i’m sure this place attracts plenty of followers!

the grand tonkotsu with three varying yet equally delicious tender, flavourful meat 🤤 which are the braised pork cheek, as well as braised pork belly in two different sauces. swipe left to see how generous the slab of pork cheek is it was delightful!! the onsen egg was cooked to perfection w oozy centre, and i loved the thinness and springiness of the noodles. the broth itself was hearty and further enhanced by the black onion drizzle. one of the better ramen at a very affordable price tag of $12.90

Meat & Chips (SGD $6.50) @ EPIKebabs.
This makes for a good sharing appetizer or snack. A base of thin and crisp potato chips sprinkled with a mild chili seasoning, over which is plated tender strips of marinated rotisserie chicken.
I choose the EPIK sauce to coat this, resulting in each mouthful being a burst of savoury salty flavour. Delicious and filling.
