I've been on a roll with giving our boring old dining chairs a face lift. Scroll through for the B&A shots!
My word for the year is "disrupt". I know that's a buzz word that is bandied about a lot these days in marketing, but that's not how I mean it. Over the last couple of years, I've fallen into some bad habits, and in ruts, which have led to me not achieving my goals. This year I want to disrupt those bad habits so that I can move forward.
What's your word for the year?
Monday are always well... Mondays. Just passing time in work.
During my St. Francois Girls College days my books were always filled with sketches. First thing I learned to draw, eyes.
🦓 🦁 Jungle themed playdough kit, always a popular one! 🦁 🦓
Playing around with cement and creating pots of all shapes and sizes. I will use anything as a mould, as long as it interests me. None of them come ever out "perfect". To me though, they are Perfectly Imperfect. I love the off centre planter, the holes created by air bubbles, the different textures all on the same pot and that no 2 will ever be the same 💕
The garlands are starting to magically whip themselves together for the new collection launch in 10 days from now. I wish it were that easy BUT they are a labour of love and I’m enjoying every minute of creating. It always feels a little scary when trying a new project but I am really proud to share the results with you all. 🌿 #busyhands #ohdina
A few years ago, I told my husband that I was thinking about taking up knitting...and he said: "Yeah, that's what you need...a new hobby" My grandmother was an amazing knitter and of course I was too stubborn or busy to learn from her. But now that I've been knitting for a while, I feel so connected to her as I knit...I can imagine her sitting in her apartment thinking about us as she knit us sweaters, blankets, hats, scarfs. I find knitting to be very meditative. My favorite thing to make is a hat...they are a short term project (i only successfully finished one sweater), they can be really complicated and I love making things for specific people. This is a selection of hats I made...both knit and crochet. I'm glad I started up again.

After two spool looms (both broke...plastic for you), two hooks (I still haven't found the first one), and many (MANY) hours wrapping and knitting... I have part one of the project complete! Nearly 35 yards 😅. I seriously need to make a wooden spool loom if I'm going to keep this up. I don't have the necessary supplies for the next step, but I'll update when I do. Oscar season will see me knitting more than usual I hope!
I'm coming up with a systematic way to stay on top of craft projects, especially knitting and crochet. It basically involves writing everything down, duh! How did I not think of this before? 😂🙄☺️
STRESS RELIEF - Sometimes when I’m angry or upset, taking a few moments to fix something, work with my hands, or restore something small can make me feel better. I had no immediate need for this grungy cap screw, but the fact that it was grungy made it the target of my effort on this stress filled afternoon. No more than 10 minutes of effort, I’m feeling better, and this fastener is usable again. ##partsandrestoration #breaksomethingeveryday #busyhands
Recycling leather samples that were going to be thrown out into key rings. Also finally used these metal stamps I bought potentially 8 years ago for the first time 🔨
Finally getting around to knitting the second sock. Tomorrow is supposed to be wicked cold. Perfect day for knitting by the fireplace.
This has kept me from eating today! #busyhands
- while I am colouring I am not eating 🤣🤣
Finally! All those fun little creations I’ve been posting on my story are now listed in my Etsy shop! Link in bio ☺️ #handmadejewelry #busyhands
