Girlfriends! Maybe I'm about to sound like the most know it all asshole ever, or I'm about to enlighten you. I hope the latter.🤞 There are plenty of ladies that already know this, but WAY too many that don't. You ready? DO. NOT. BE. AFRAID. TO. LIFT. WEIGHTS. HEAVY WEIGHTS.
⭐Read this article. https://www.aworkoutroutine.com/toning-workout-for-women/ TLDR?....you're gonna screw yourself over. Seriously.
I've been on this damn fitness journey for 5+ freaking years. I've done several challenges, pilates, yoga, cardio, etc. Do you know when I started SEEING results? When I started lifting, and understanding progressive overload.
I've done a female body builder's "challenge". When the challenge was over, so were my "results". They weren't even in inches or looks, they were just a few pounds. AND if I didn't follow the bland chicken/all veggie diet to a T, almost nothing changed.
I've been down the rabbit hole. I've misunderstood a lot, but then I learned a lot. Challenges and the like, for the most part, are beginner programs. That's a good start, but then what? It took me forever to realize I was doing beginner program, after beginner program. Money makers. No education. No lasting results.
I still run 1-2 times a week, because I like to hike and want to improve my lung function. I still do yoga, because it makes me flexible and feels awesome. BUT the best thing I do for my body, to get "tone" is lift. I still have a ways to go until I'm where I want to be, but for the first time ever, I see definition. I started this journey at 135 lbs. I'm 119 now with some definition. My ideal image is around the corner. Finally!
Bottom line: How should a woman train? Like a man. Promise. So yeah, once you get past the satirical part, read the rest of his articles. He gives you a TON of FREE information. Nerd Fitness is another good one I've come across. It's like everything else; education is key. The nurse in me, wants the rest of you to be educated, healthy and happy. Thus, the looooong passionate post, that almost makes you think I'm trying to sell you something. I'm not, but please stop killing yourselves on treadmills. 🖤 #sorrythankyou #butdontdie
