Jammie Dodger Cupcake 7/10
Crumbs and Doilies, London
A beautiful looking cupcake specimen! The dodgers were soft and I understand why but didn’t make them very tasty! Dollop of jam was very fruity and made the overall presentation beautiful. The cupcake itself and the icing topping though were lovely. The cupcake was light and very vanilla flavoured and the icing was the right consistency and thickness to complement the cake! Tasted like a Victoria sponge cupcake!
Gorgeous quaint shop - a hidden gem! Lovely quality tea to accompany the cakes on offer!
Macaron - La Durée 10/10
There’s something special about these macaron. Whenever I have them I am always amazed, so crisp, so light, so moreish. I love them.y favourite is the Geranium. I love that floral meets edible thing. If you haven’t tried these, you should do so. You might become addicted.
Strawberry Éclair - 7/10 Betty’s Tearooms
A perfectly formed strawberry eclair. Beautifully decorated. The top chocolate slice was lovely - it was quite a substantial piece of tasty white chocolate. The choux pastry was light and airy and tasted good. The strawberry filling, although tasty was more like strawberry ice cream flavour and I expected it to be more zingy! I suppose an éclair is usually just cream and this was strawberry cream but there was something about the flavour that wasn’t quite right for me.
Chocolate Mouse! - Betty’s 8/10
A delightful mouse shaped chocolate truffle cake! Almond ears were the final touch to this cute and tasty little cake. Thick, creamy milk chocolate encased the chocolate ganache truffle and chocolate sponge filling. Just the right ratio of sponge to ganache. The ganache truffle was light and of a milk chocolate variety. Quite rich and sickly but very, very tasty! I love all things ‘mouse’ so couldn’t resist this cute number. I’d have liked a supersized mouse 😂🐭
La Fleur - La Durée 9/10
Gorgeous and so beautiful! A decadent rose cream with a raspberry jam central topping. Inside you discover such beautiful layers!
The top layer tastes almost like yoghurt, so I think this may be mascarpone, then there is a wafer thin white chocolate layer, then delicately flavoured rose cream, followed by a raspberry jam and a light sponge and more cream. I don’t know how the patissiers create such a thing of divine beauty and tasting so exquisite. The pretty exterior conceals the delights inside. I have passed this cake by before, having failed to appreciate what could lie within! I won’t make that mistake again! Excuse the poor photograph, I purchased this at the kiosk in Bicester and there was torrential rain so I had to dive elsewhere to devour!
The cake for my sweet sixteenth was from the one and only @lafarine.pk.
It was honestly a holy grail for chocolate lovers like me.😋😋
Perfectly layered with cream and chocolate and topped with crushed chocolate chips❤️❤️❤️
Honestly, satisfied my sweet tooth.🙏🏻🌺
It costed me RS : I200 and was enough for about 8 to 10 persons.✅
So yeah @lafarine.pk gets a 10/10 for taste but a 5/10 for service. (*There was only one guy at the reception who was doing ALL the things by himself; icing, billing, customer handling etc. We waited for 15 minutes just to get a cake though there were only 3 more customers.🤦🏻♀️)
Strawberry and Champagne Layer Cake 8/10
Peggy Porschen Parlour
Decadence in a slice! This beautiful layer cake looks magnificent as a full cake and is available to buy as a whole or alternatively by the slice.
The sponge is fairly wet at the bottom as I assume the champagne sinks?! - but the sponge has a lovely texture and really does taste of champagne! The jam sandwiching the layers is nice and of a good quality. Now the icing - I don’t know how this was made but it was heavenly! It didn’t taste like butter cream almost like candy or white chocolate but it literally melted in your mouth! This meant it was not sickly and was very moreish! The strawberry on the top added a nice fruity garnish!
Cherry chocolate chip cupcake 9/10
Peggy Porschen Parlour
A veritable taste explosion within a compact cupcake! The chocolate chip sponge was delightful, moist and the right consistency. It encased a black cherry compote which was tangy and complemented the sponge well. On the top the black cherry icing was delicately flavoured and the cherry sweet and satisfying! An excellent example of a cupcake! The most expensive cupcake on the menu at £7.15! You might need two as they’re quite petite!
Saint-Honoré Fraise Coco 8/10
Always eager to sample a variant on my favourite dessert! This didn’t disappoint. Similar in style and substance to the standard version but with the addition of coconut 🥥 and a change from raspberry to strawberry coulis/fruit inside and for decoration. The coconut worked really well with the strawberry and cream. It made a refreshing change! Loved the gold leaf décor too. The pastry was as crisp as ever and presentation first class!
Saint-Honoré Rose Framboise🌹 10/10
This is my all time favourite, so it’s an easy 10/10!
Where do I start?! This veritable angelic delicacy is amazing!
Gorgeous light choux pastry filled with rose flavoured crème patisserie. Inside there are fresh raspberries. The pastry is crisp and light. The rose petal decorative and edible garnish finishes this off wonderfully. I just love everything about this! My all time favourite - did I say that already?! #cakereview#cakereviews#cakeconnoisseur#ladurée#laduree
Lemon Meringue Tarte 7/10
A gorgeous, refreshing zingy number. La Durée never disappoint. Crisp pastry tart outer shell with an amazing lemon curd crème, topped with a meringue. Simple and classic but done in a stylish manner.
Accompanied by the house blend tea!

Classic choux à la crème - Odette Paris. 7/10
I was excited about trying these as they’ve been on my to try list for a while now and they didn’t disappoint. The shop/café itself is gorgeously quaint and inviting. They stock a wide range of flavours. I sampled the caramel, mango, vanilla, fruits of the forest, chocolate and a few others!
The mango was the stand out choice, the crème was so silky smooth and delicious and the pastry crisp and tasty. Whilst the icing tops look pretty and are traditional for the choux - I’m not sure they add a lot to the taste to be honest - a little sugar rush! Would highly recommend these on a trip to Paris!

Angelina - Paris
Crunch and cream!
Shortbread biscuit, raspberry cream, light whipped cream, fresh raspberries.
This patisserie is light and refreshing with a vibrant and zingy raspberry layer. The shortbread biscuit base adds a salty flavour which combines well with the raspberries and cream. Biscuit base hard to cut so beware of flying biscuit! More cream would have been preferable as a contrast to the raspberry. Gold leaf a lovely, decorative touch. #angelinaparis#cakereview#patisserie#cakereviews#cakeporn#cakesofinstagram#cakeconnoisseur#cakecognescente
