I hope everyone is having a great weekend! This #ShareSunday
, we'll be looking at a beer that I shared that was over half a decade old. Let's check out what I thought of this Imperial English Ale aged in oak barrel from @firestonewalker.
I acquired this beer through a trade.
Name: Double DBA (2012) 🛢🛢
Brewery: Firestone Walker Brewing Company, Paso Robles, California 🔥👣
Style: English Strong Ale 🇬🇧
Alcohol: 12% 📊
Poured at an unknown temperature from a 22oz bottle into a snifter. Consumed on 17Jun18.
NOTE: Six years did wonders to this beer. I am usually indifferent to the mouthfeel of a beer, but the silkiness of this was impossible to ignore. Strong notes of caramel and tree nuts dominated with a malty presence. A mild sherry, toast, and sweet molasses mixture brought a delightful complexity to the beer. Finishing with just a trace of bitter hops, this was well-balanced, yet still a wonderful malt bomb. 🍻
OVERALL RATING: 4.5 / 5.0
