STRUGGLING WITH PUSH UPS? 😢 JUST DO THIS! ✅ - incline push ups are by far the most efficient and effective strategy to becoming very comfortable with push ups very fast. This is because the biomechanics are the exact same, but just at a higher angle in order to increase leverage in your favour. 👍 • The progression is very simple - the higher the elevated the surface you push from, the easier it will be. So, start slow, and work your way down patiently. Once you can do 15 or so, place your hands at a lower elevation to increase the intensity. BUILD MORE MUSCLE WITH YOUR OWN BODYWEIGHT 💪 - performing slower eccentrics in your traditional sets and reps training is a great way to strengthen the tendons and connective tissue. • Tendons are ‘avascular’, meaning that a lack of blood flow leads to slower development relative to the muscles. You’re only as strong as your joints, my friend. If you only focus on the muscles themselves, your tendons will let you know eventually in the form of tendinopathy (as I’ve had to learn the hard way in May! 🤕). • Eccentrics also increase muscle damage, which is one factor of muscle hypertrophy, so not only are your neglected tendons and connective tissues gaining extra benefit, your muscles are going to get bigger and stronger too! (Win win for everyone, ay! 💪) • Instead of just bouncing up and down from rep to rep, control the downward phase of the range of motion for an extra few seconds. Increasing the eccentric phase will also prevent the damage on the joints due to the lower amount of momentum placed on them. (LONG TERM HEALTH GAINS! 🍏) • Increase the eccentric time of some of the exercises in your current workout routine, and let me know how it gets on.
