This week we will be looking at throwing the hook, using slips to evade straight shots and throwing a bandai (shin kick to the body) we will then integrate these new movements into padwork, building on what we learnt last week. Many a fitness model post about their ‘cheat meals’, so naturally we think we need them too. - - Firstly. What are you cheating? In this ‘cheat meal’ you’ll still be consuming calories, just like you would during any meal. Those calories are not exempt. - - Secondly. If you feel the need to have a monumental calorie blowout regularly, your diet is probably not sustainable. Cheating at anything usually means you have no other viable means of achieving the goal you want. - - Thirdly. My graphic is an example of how these excessive meals could be detrimental to a calorie deficit. Though this is a specific example involving a 1600 calorie per day diet, the point remains for any calorie target. In this case, the meal on the left could fit the goal, but only if the individual didn’t eat for a day afterwards... What would you prefer? One excessive meal (3150 calories) and 3-5 hours of satiety? Or six meals, a few snacks, 2 days of eating and 48 hours of satiety for the same calorie value? Both work, but you’ll probably feel better on the latter. - - Instead of ‘cheating’, just look at food for what it actually is - an energy value and a source of nutrients. Experienced fitpro’s may refer to their flexible diet by referencing cheat meals, but in reality this is just a word to them - they are aware of their overall energy intake and that’s why they are succeeding. To someone desperately trying to lose weight, the whole concept of cheating is misleading, pointless and unhelpful. I’ve had a number of clients and potential clients tell me a goal they want to achieve.... however when It comes down to the hard work of getting there, something always gets in the way 🙄🤷🏽‍♀️ . I appreciate we all have busy schedules and that’s okay! But to get these goals, we need to compromise somewhere.. 🔹getting up an hour earlier than normal to exercise before work 🔹 giving up an hour of your time on a Sunday to prep meals for the week 🔹 MONEY... buying less crappy food/new outfits or even buying pointless shit 🔹 TIME.. there are 24 hours in a day you have time to sit and watch corry with a glass of wine a night then you have the time. 🔹 KIDS... doing something active with them benefits both of you! . . Just what I needed, a stress free weekend with no plans!😍 - Took two days off from the gym and just spent some quality time with my girl dancing, walking around in the beautiful weather, cooking dinner and having movie nights at home! - Back in my firs years of training I would just ignore my body’s signals and just continue working harder and harder until am totally burned out. - So it’s easier said than done but if you feel that your stress levels getting higher and higher try take some time off and recharge! - You will not loose any gains by relaxing a few days or even two weeks. There is a life outside of the gym and we should train to increase the quality of life 🙏

[GF Apple & Cinnamon muffins / Muffins pomme-cannelle SG] I received lots of apples, so I made applesauce and used some to prepare these gluten free apple cinnamon muffins (recipe adapted from a @wellnessmama pin). Even my daughter loved them (...and usually she only likes muffins made with flour, butter and lots of sugar…).
