Find your passion. Follow your dreams. Awaken the inner child within.
That sound familiar to you? I'm sure it did :) The word passion is so often used when we're talking about leading a successful life. I've been thinking about this lately and I just thought I'd break down WHY, I believe, passion is synonymous to happiness.
1) YOU'RE IN THE MOMENT.
So think about the last time you were doing something you absolutely love. Whether it's writing or playing a sport or playing an instrument or dancing, the one common element you'll notice is that, you weren't thinking about anything else, and you were immersed in that activity.
That's the magic of passion. You stop thinking about everything else in the world and you're fully focused, fully alive to the moment.
2) It ACTS AS YOUR ANCHOR
From the moment we wake up, we're being pulled in a 100 different directions. Life is hectic and stressful and it's unrealistic to expect that the external stress will ever come down. It's not in your control anyway.
What is however in your control is how you shield yourself against it.
And that's where you deliberately use your passion as your anchor every single day. It releases a lot of positive hormones in your brain and that's going to help enormously in clearing your head.
And the final point is that it just gives you a reason to show up in the world every day. It gives meaning to life.
A lot of people talk about turning their passion into a career and that's great, but for whatever reason, even if you can't, nobody is stopping you from following it religiously.
Carlos Puyol, the great Barcelona defender, said that even if he didn't cut it as a professional, he'd still be playing with his friends every weekend.
And so, I believe that you don't really need to worry about whether you can monetize your passion or not, because either way, it's it's a gift that you need to celebrate :)
