Just finished re-sawing and planing down some KDT SYP 6x6 for a staircase we’re replacing tomorrow. The existing porch has 4-1/4”x 4-1/4” posts. It’s an odd size, but proportionately makes sense. The client was ok with 4x4 or 6x6 stock to replace it. This would’ve been taking the easy way out, which we never like to do. #detailsmatter
Besides, who doesn’t like spending time in the shop?!?! What’s left from the re-sawing will get milled into 1x so nothing is left to waste.

Got some solid work done on one of the terrarium shelves. There's still a lot to do, but the construction part of it is almost done. Idk if I'll make two after all, but we'll see. If you saw my latest video I was talking about putting a 55g on the bottom and that's true, but idk what I'll do with it. Maybe a grow out tank for plants, maybe a vivarium, etc. Any ideas? -

I've been batching out a few different products lately (including these MN "Home" signs) to get an early start to the holiday season... It reminds me of the days of working at a custom cabinet shop where I would build anywhere from 10 to 50 drawers per work order. And sometimes fill 1-5 work orders per day which made for some long days. Even though I'm glad I moved on I'm thankful for the experience because it taught me a lot about efficiency in a production environment. Things are not as fast paced in my own shop now days (which I can appreciate) but I always keep that experience in mind. I'm glad that I finally have a shop where I can build and make things with my own tools and develop my own process, but more importantly it's a place I can call home! Anyone work a past job with a similar experience? #jsbuilds #jsielingbuilds #mn #home
