1947 Wolseley Eight 1947. Way off my normal period here, but this little guy is so cute peeping out from the ivy waiting for the chance to get on the road again. One of the pioneering marques of the British motor industry, Wolseley dominated the market before the First World War becoming the biggest manufacturer in Britain during the 20s. A classic case of expanding too fast, by the end of the decade Wolseley was in trouble and bought by Morris in 1927. From the end of the Second World War, limited supplies and the need for cost savings hastened the legendary badge engineering, with Wolseleys becoming plush Morrises. With its very cool trademark illuminated grille badge, Wolseley followed Morris into BMC and later British Leyland.
