For almost 20 years, Muay Thai, and combat sports, have given me more than I could have ever hoped for, and for that I am forever grateful. Muay Thai is my one true passion in life and a sport I can't wait to see evolve in Australia over the next few decades. I've dedicated my life to learning as much about Muay Thai as I can, and will continue to do so for decades to come. Like any coach, passing on this beautiful sport is priority number one, but there's always more. So with that, I have decided to open my own gym here in Canberra.
Muay U has been created to pass on ALL aspects of the sport, both technical and cultural. I think it is important to recognise the roots of a sport and honour its traditions, though I also beleive in a modern approach to training, blending both the old and new, thus Muay U. Short for University (though not explicitly mentioned), Muay U was created with the love of American College Sports - their fanfare, love, tradition and passion.
This could not have been possible without the support of my long-term mentor and father figure, Anthony Manning, Mum, AH, my close friends, and everyone else in my life.
Muay U has begun minimal operation for a select few, and will open to all in the coming weeks. Whilst Muay U, like most Muay Thai gyms, has been created to expose the sport of Muay Thai, I will still continue to focus my attention on building Champion Fighters who are humble & respectful, but technical, relentless and determined.
