Rocky was diagnosed with Valley Fever today, and some of you know he’s been feeling not so hot. His symptoms were lethargy and pain in his front legs and back. Its a relief to know what it is and that it’s highly treatable. It’s actually pretty common in the SW, 10% of dogs every year are diagnosed with it, it happens when they breathe in the microscopic spores of a fungus Called “Cocci” for short. It’s a mold that grows in the soil, I actually had it 6 years ago myself and have a large lesion leftover in my right lung. It’s a drag, it’s painful and exhausting. Rocky was started on Fluconizole today and at the advise of a few awesome people @nosnowsup
I ordered Desert Defense, milk Huskey, Vit C and Fish oil for him as well. I don’t know how involved it is yet or if it’s heavily involved in his bones, we will have to wait to do some X-rays next week to tell. Meanwhile, he’s being spoiled with good yummy food, love and he gets to lay on my pillows and get them all hairy. Meanwhile, he’s going to take a huge break from hiking until he gets this under control.
