Jose Mourinho has revealed Mauricio Sarri's assistant Marco Ianni has apologised for goading him on the touchline when Chelsea secured a last-gasp 2-2 draw with Manchester United .
Mourinho reacted angrily and had to be restrained in attempting to confront the Chelsea staff - but the Manchester United boss has revealed he accepted Ianni's apology. "What happened with Sarri's assistant; Sarri was the first one to come to me and say he would resolve the problem internally with me," Mourinho told Sky Sports. "And after that his assistant came to me in Sarri's office, and apologised to me. I said 'if you really feel that way and want to apologise I'll accept it, because I've made mistakes in my time too'. He apologised and I accepted." Ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho admitted he felt the home crowd did not respect him on his Stamford Bridge return, as United grafted hard for a draw in west London.
When asked about whether he was shown respect by Chelsea fans, Mourinho replied: "No, I don't think so; but that's not my responsibility. I have a certain level of education, socially and sport, and what I did here today I would do in Madrid, Porto, Milan, I try to behave always the same way. But the reactions of the fans is up to them. I'm not annoyed with anything." Maurizio Sarri added: "Sincerely, I did not see what happened. But I spoke with Jose, and of course then I spoke with my member of staff because I think we were on the wrong side. So I have dealt with it immediately. It’s private. If I spoke with the member of staff and I have to be very hard, then I cannot come here and tell everything, otherwise with my staff I am not credible.
