Victor Moses has retired from international football in order to focus on his club career at Chelsea.
The 27-year-old has called time on his Nigeria career after winning 37 caps for the Super Eagles. "I would like to announce that after much thought I have made the decision to retire from playing international football," Moses wrote on social media on Wednesday. "I have experienced some of the best moments of my life wearing the Super Eagles shirt and have memories with me that will last a lifetime. Nothing will ever compete to what it felt like to represent Nigeria on behalf of our country. However I feel that now is the right time to step away in order to be able to focus fully on club career and my young family as well as to allow the next generation of Super Eagles stars the opportunity to step up and to flourish. We are blessed as a nation to have so many exciting young players coming through and now is their time. I have already spoken to the manager by telephone and would like to say thank you to him and his staff, the NFF and all of my teammates for all of their support over the years. Most importantly I would like to say thank you to the Nigerian people for believing in me and supporting me over the years. It's meant the world to me and my family and I will always be a proud Nigerian supporting the team. Thank you for the memories and good luck to the team for the future." #BlueIsTheColour #CFC #CFCFans #CFCFamily #CFCTillIDie #BPL #EPL #PremierLeague #PreSeason #CFCTour #Champions #ComeOnYouBlues #PremierLeagueChampions #ChelseaFC #COYB #KTBFFH #IfItsNotBlueItWillBe #CFCArmy #TheBlues #Chelsea_KTBFFH #ChelseaFans #ChelseaKWT #CFCNews #CFCTransfers #CFCTour #MaurizioSarri #Sarri #GianfrancoZola #VictorMoses
CHELSEA striker Alvaro Morata has backed new team mate Mateo Kovacic to be a hit at the Blues. “Mateo, first of all, is an amazing person,” Morata told the club's official website. "He is a midfielder who is good with the ball, very technical.“ "He’s a very good player which is very important for us because we need top players,” he added.
Speaking about what he feels Kovavic brings to his new side, the striker was adamant his good friend would make a big impact. "He can break through the lines with his quality, he can score goals and he has a lot of power in his legs,” he said. "With him we will win a lot of possession and he has the ability to carry the ball into the final third and provide passes for the strikers.” “Yes, he gave me a lot of assists in Madrid,” he said. “We enjoy playing together and I’m very happy to have him here. I think he’s one of the best midfielders in the world. I always try to help the new signings settle in, I remember when I first came here my team-mates helped me, and now it’s time for me to do the same.” #BlueIsTheColour #CFC #CFCFans #CFCFamily #CFCTillIDie #BPL #EPL #PremierLeague #PreSeason #CFCTour #Champions #ComeOnYouBlues #PremierLeagueChampions #ChelseaFC #COYB #KTBFFH #IfItsNotBlueItWillBe #CFCArmy #TheBlues #Chelsea_KTBFFH #ChelseaFans #ChelseaKWT #CFCNews #CFCTransfers #CFCTour #MaurizioSarri #Sarri #GianfrancoZola #AlvaroMorata #MateoKovacic
Thibaut Courtois would have stayed at Chelsea if his family lived in London, his agent has said. “If the family were in London it would have been totally different. He would have stayed, there is no reason to leave a club like Chelsea, he could have won trophies. There has been a misunderstanding that he wanted to get a move for the wrong reasons, but he was pushing to go out of Chelsea because of his child," Christophe Henrotay told BBC’s Sportsweek on Courtois. "Unfortunately his kids are living with the mother in Madrid. He had the contract and it depended on Chelsea, but running close to the end of his contract, Chelsea had an interest to find a deal with Madrid, which they did. It is personal reasons so we have to respect this. Chelsea understood the situation and really helped to get the deal. They did a really quick and easy deal together, understanding the humanity of the situation. It is not doing something against their fans it is about getting the best of a situation that is not ideal." Henrotay says reuniting the Courtois family made getting the deal done even sweeter. "It's a move he wanted because of his family and he had the opportunity to go back to Madrid - a city he loves and to such a big club in Real Madrid," he said. "When we arrived in Madrid to make the signing, I had his parents, his brother, his sister, his child, the mother of the child, everyone is there and I said to him that I am delighted to make a great deal for him in going to Real Madrid but also it's a family coming together. I could see tears in their eyes and it delighted me to be able to do something not only for a player, for a client, but for a family, which is great. I fully understand the fans of Chelsea and no one has reason to blame that feeling. Thibaut is such a great goalkeeper and he did his best at Chelsea to bring titles and trophies so it is not a great feeling to lose such a player."
Chelsea should have no interest in pleasing rivals Real Madrid by selling them Eden Hazard, according to the Sunday Supplement panel Martin Samuel.
Speaking on the Sunday Supplement, the Daily Mail's Martin Samuel thinks Chelsea are right to stand their ground on Hazard, saying the Premier League side do not have to solve Real Madrid's problems for them.
When asked if anyone can deny Hazard a move to Real in the future, he said: "I don't think it is Chelsea's business to make Real Madrid happy so yes they can [deny Hazard a move]. They are rivals. Chelsea's rivals aren't Fulham or West Ham. Fulham might think Chelsea are their rivals but they are not anymore. Chelsea's rivals are Real Madrid. You don't solve Real Madrid's problems any more than you solve Manchester United's problems so it's not a case of can we deny him this dream move. Yes you can because it's not is your business interests to make Real Madrid happy." Speaking after Belgium's 2-0 win over England, Hazard told Belgian outlet HLN: "After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different. Certainly after this World Cup. I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision - if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination." The Daily Telegraph's chief football writer Sam Wallace thinks Chelsea are right to stand their ground over Hazard, saying Real have no divine right to sign all the world's best players. You are buying into this notion that every great player must end up at Real Madrid. Why? That's what Real Madrid would like you to think but everyone else doesn't have to believe that. There's 25 other top clubs across Europe, who all think they are the greatest club ever. Bayern Munich think they are the greatest club that has ever existed. Manchester United certainly do and I dare say Liverpool do as well.

Maurizio Sarri insists there is still more to come from Chelsea following their 3-0 win at Huddersfield on the opening weekend of the Premier League. "I'm very happy for the three points," Sarri told Sky Sports. "For us, in this first part of the championship it's not very easy to gain points. I think in this moment we are not at the top of our potential. The first half was hard. If you look at the result, you can think about an easy game, but in the first half we were in trouble for 15 minutes against a very physical team. We are not a physical team and I think the best of the game is the capacity of suffering for 15 minutes. Then I think in the second half the opponents were a bit tired and it was easier." “From the physical point of view, it’s different,” the Chelsea boss said, comparing the Premier League to Serie A. “For the referees, it is different. Really different. Today with an Italian referee maybe there were 15 fouls more than with this referee.” Asked if he can replicate Napoli’s style at Chelsea, Sarri, added: “No, I have to know the characteristics of the players because I think I don’t want to do another Naples. I want to do a good Chelsea. I have to respect the characteristics of the players, I have to adapt myself to the characteristics of the championship and of the players, so now I am studying my players.” When asked if he was always going to give Hazard game time, he said: "Yes, in this moment he cannot play 90 minutes so he came on in the last 20 minutes when the opponents may be tired." #BlueIsTheColour #CFC #CFCFans #CFCFamily #CFCTillIDie #BPL #EPL #PremierLeague #PreSeason #CFCTour #Champions #ComeOnYouBlues #PremierLeagueChampions #ChelseaFC #COYB #KTBFFH #IfItsNotBlueItWillBe #CFCArmy #TheBlues #Chelsea_KTBFFH #ChelseaFans #ChelseaKWT #CFCNews #CFCTransfers #CFCTour #MaurizioSarri #Sarri #GianfrancoZola
“For sure, in this moment, we are not at the top of our potential,” said Sarri. “We did a pre-season - what can I say - unusual, maybe. So now we are not at the top. I hope to be at the top of the potential of the squad in one or two months. I hope that the second part of the season, for us, will be very good with a lot of points. I expect in the first part of the season some problems.” Sarri did not go as far as ruling Chelsea out of the title race before it has started, but, asked what problems he expects to encounter, the 59-year-old added: “On the results. Maybe the performances in the first part of the season will not be in line with the potential of the squad.” That may not have been what the Chelsea board envisaged when they brought in Sarri, but he insisted: “They know it. They know it very well.” Asked if he would change the summer schedule, Sarri replied: “If I can, completely. I arrived in the middle of July, so the problem was there. I have to accept it completely, but I think, for the future, it will be better to change it. I think that my perfect programme of pre-season is not completely in line with the programme of the club. So we have to arrive at a compromise.” “My job is on the pitch, to improve my players,” said Sarri. “My job is to try to win matches. It's not to sign new contracts. But I have seen a player who is very happy to stay here, so I think it will be no problem, the new contract.” “We (Chelsea) have to play at another speed. The offensive phase may be problem at this speed. If we are able to play at another speed, maybe scoring will not be a problem for us. But at this moment, at this current speed, it may be a problem.” #BlueIsTheColour #CFC #CFCFans #CFCFamily #CFCTillIDie #BPL #EPL #PremierLeague #PreSeason #CFCTour #Champions #ComeOnYouBlues #PremierLeagueChampions #ChelseaFC #COYB #KTBFFH #IfItsNotBlueItWillBe #CFCArmy #TheBlues #Chelsea_KTBFFH #ChelseaFans #ChelseaKWT #CFCNews #CFCTransfers #CFCTour #MaurizioSarri #Sarri #GianfrancoZola
