WHAT AN EXCITING FINISH TO THE GAME!
Barkley slotted in Chelsea's deserved equaliser right before the final whistle. Chelsea did well on the ball but needed to improve finishing and ruthlessness in-front of goal. But, we should have won this game by at least 2 goals ahead of the Red Devils! 🤯🤷🏼♂️
Chelsea starting lineup (4-3-3) 👥 |
Arrizabalaga | Alonso, David Luiz, Rüdiger, Azpilicueta (c) | Kovačić, Jorginho, Kanté | Hazard, Morata, Willian
Substitutes: Caballero, Cahill, Zappacosta, Fàbregas, Barkley, Pedro, Giroud
Morata and Willian get the nod over Giroud and Pedro. The choices are understandable, but still slightly surprising. Barkley makes the bench, despite a minor injury. Otherwise, all as expected.
"I am very happy with this club, with the team, my family is happy here. So If I don’t go to Spain, it is not a problem. What happens in the future, I will be happy, so that’s it.”

In all probability this would be his last big contract, so there's a good chance he might stay after all! Wouldn't that be fantastic news? Chelsea fans, comment your thoughts below 👇
WHAT A KEPA 👐 | As Chelsea host Manchester United next in the Premier League, let's look at their respective goalkeepers' performances between the sticks this season.
Although it looks surprising, Kepa Arrizabalaga, the most expensive keeper in the world, has outperformed one of the best keepers inbthe world. But, is it just about form and recency bias? Most certainly not!
Throughout the World Cup, De Gea had been poor compared to the lofty standards he's set. Even then, Julen Lopetegui decided to stock with him and not play Kepa. That was one of Fernando Hierro's mistakes that saw Spain get knocked out by hosts Russia in the Round of 16. (P.S. That's also what happens when you play Nacho ahead of Azpi, 😂)
At club level, Kepa has grown into his role as a sweeper-keeper ubder Maurizio Sarri, and has quietly improved as well as impressed fans and experts alike. De Gea, however, hasn't been helped by a frankly terrible defence, something of an oddity under Jose Mourinho.
But that isn't any excuse for a very low save percentage for a player who's singlehandedly won points for his team. He didn't win those United Player of the Year trophies for nothing. 'DDG', as he's lovingly called by his fans, has been uncharacteristically slack this season, while Arrizabalaga keeps growing in confidence.
Who'll come out on top as the two Spanish shot stoppers meet on Sunday at Stamford Bridge? Drop in your thoughts below 👇
SE QUEDA? | According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Eden Hazard will reportedly sign a new contract extension worth about £16m (€18m) a year, making him the highest-paid player in Chelsea's history!
Chelsea have offered Hazard £300k per week and he's ready to accept it. Apparently Maurizio Sarri was a big factor in him wanting to stay.
THE BUCK STOPS WITH BRUCE | Chelsea will do ANYTHING & EVERYTHING to entice Hazard to sign, confirms chairman Bruce Buck 👀
Ross Barkley was excellent against Spain last night, and is gradually growing into his role under Maurizio Sarri. He has gone from being a great deal at £15m to a genuine attacking force in midfield.
From struggling for fitness for most of last season and being out of the national team fold, Ross Barkley is now firmly in contention for a place in an exciting England squad and is providing some 'real' competition to an elite Kovacic.
That is some turnaround he's making in his career. Do you think he has a future as a starter at Chelsea? Do share your thoughts below. 👇
