Black Panther Review
Black Panther is the last superhero movie before the long awaited Infinity war arrives and it isn’t bad although I think It was way too overhyped and praised by the critics. Its a good film but by no means amazing.
First off a great thing about this film is that its unique in that its a film that does not take place in America but in Africa and its not about someone wanting to destroy the world or city which is a nice sort of change. Its more about the thirst to be king which is smaller in scale. The performances are also good, most notably from Michael B.Jordan as Kill-monger the main-villain of the story and Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther. Andy Serkis also plays a role that I really enjoyed watching although he doesn’t have that much screen-time. I don’t really think the film needed Martin Freeman as a character in the film. His performance in the movie wasn’t bad but his character doesn’t get that much to do and rendered pretty much useless. The visuals and costumes , no surprise are great and I did feel immersed in the world of Wakanda. The one thing I feel I will remember from this movie are the interactions between the characters. It’s the one thing that I loved from this film that I feel I haven’t seen much of in previous marvel films. The chemistry between all the character are so much fun to watch and listen to. There is a certain scene in which Killmonger and Black Panther are talking and you could really feel the tension and anger between them.
Where the film does not go so well is with the action scenes and pacing. Marvel is very well known for their awesome and well shot action scenes which unfortunately Black Panther does not have. The action scenes weren’t fluid and very underwhelming considering the amazing work thats been done on action scenes in previous marvel films and even shows(Daredevil). The last battle relies TOO MUCH on CGI which kind of ruins the unique feel of the movie. It was like the ending in Wonder Woman with that horrible CGI fight fest. The film also has pacing issues. I thought the film could have been shorter.
Overall This is a good film but by no means amazing and definitely not one of the best
