1 year on... Please welcome our new kitties to our family.
2 year Penelope was given up as her owners were emigrating. She had kittens but lost them and went to Celia Hammond Animal Trust (CHAT) very dejected.
When 6 abandoned black kittens arrived at CHAT, she immediately adopted them and brightened up. However, as she couldn't give any milk, they gave 4 of the kittens to a foster mum and left her with two of the kittens, hand-rearing them. We found her on CHAT's website and fell in love.
When we called up, we heard that she had adopted a lone long-haired black kitten. The kitten had been sold by a schoolchild to another child and had to be given to CHAT.
Black cats are harder to rehome and as the whole family was too hard to resist (we only wanted 1 or 2 cats!), they all came home with us to live a week ago.
We had a fright a few days later when they all went down with cat flu, but medication, bathing and lots of attention has meant that they seem to be pulling through. They are slowly getting used to us and their new home.
They will not fill the holes left behind by Kashmir 14 and Diesel 16, but we have so much love to give, that they will be treasured and cared for.
