A week ago, I shared my New Year’s resolution to protect our planet and oceans through a few simple commitments. Learning more about sustainable aquaculture was one of my top resolutions, therefore, I will be exploring @verlasso
’s journey as they aim to be an even more sustainable water farm.
I’ve been on the sidelines, watching Verlasso grow for the past 8 years. I was one of the first to try the salmon from their open-ocean farm in Patagonia, Chile and it tasted amazing! I’ve seen them make all the right moves when it comes to the health of the Region where they farm, the community they work with, and the planet, which is why I’m excited to learn more about the industry and what they’re doing to be better stewards of the ocean.
It’s not just about making delicious seafood. It’s also about feeding the world’s growing populations, combating overfishing, and providing a healthy protein with a lower carbon footprint. When we put our heads together and discuss food systems and the social issues they’re connected to (like hunger, waste, global warming, and social justice causes), we can truly move forward.
