Tiramisu Garden Cake
When I was little, we literally lived in the jungle because my late grandmother thought it was a nice place to have a house in. Over the weekend, my mom would bring my sister and I for the two mile walk to reach my atta’s home. It was an earthy and gravelled path, wild flowers and grass taller than us, strays along the way; but the excitement always overshadowed our weariness. At night, we sat amongst the candles because there was no electricity. The winds would howl, the trees rustling and if it was stormy, it was terrifyingly haunting. But amidst all the eeriness, our families gathered, there was gales of laughter, stories being told till the wee hours, and we’d sit cross legged on the floor in a circle, food shared in the middle. In the morning, shrouded in mist, the trees now whistled instead; music to my ears. I’d be up with my cousins, feet in mud and wet grass playing catch in the wildernesses. Bliss.
I share with you a piece of my childhood memory in this cake. Remember, sometimes it’s okay to get a little dirty, a little messy, a little loose, a little carefree 💕🎄✨
