. The Psoas March!. . This is a great corrective exercise to help with... . Improve lumbopelvic control. . Help with psoas strains. . Help with lower back pain. . Improve squat technique. . And help with tight hip flexors. . Lay on your back with both knees at 90 degrees, your lower back will be held flat on the ground held in place by your anterior core muscles. Kick one leg out while the other remains vertical without letting your lower back arch or move. Try and focus on using your hamstrings rather than pushing through your quads to get maximum benefit. Try and repeat 10x on each leg or as many reps as you can without compromising the position of your back.

Your warm up SHOULD NOT consist of 30 mins of rolling around on the floor doing silly mobility drills. . Each session you have may need a slightly different warm up (deadlift one coming soon) but here is how my warm up usually looks when I train upper body. Each of the 3 parts shown are done inbetween warm up sets of my workout exercises like this: . 1. Exercises one and two from the video are done for 10 reps each . 2. First warm up sets (dumbbell bench press and single arm row set for example) . 3. Exercise three from the video done for 10-12 reps . 4. Second two warm up sets done . 5. First round of exercises four and five from the video done for 5 reps each . 6. Final two warm up sets completed . 7. Final round of exercises four and five from the video done for 5 reps again . 8. First work set - IT'S GO TIME! . For those of you still reading... the vast majority of us have very adequate upper body mobility for our sessions so spending time before a workout stretching staticly is a waste of time and can actually make you temporarily weaker - I doubt you want that when trying to make progress in the gym. . The medicine ball work is the key to this. Firing up your nervous system with quick explosive work prior to a session will really help you start to make decent progress. Squat and deadlift warm up tips coming out soon for you all! . This stupid freaking digestive issues I brought home from Iraq and Afghanistan suck! It’s hard to accomplish your goals of breaking a personal weight goal of being over 200lbs, when you can’t fucking eat! Like it’s almost offensive at this point when I’m helping people with their fitness and they say, “ I don’t want to get too big.” Like seriously?!?! It takes so much work and deliberate actions to get “ big.” Trust me your normal work outs aren’t going to turn you into the next Ms or Mr Olympia! It takes years to get to that point. It has been a truly humbling experience these past few months since I started! I’m used to being able to dedicate myself and all my effort to something and succeeding in accomplishing my goals quickly. This has made me exercise extreme patience and relax out of my” need to accomplish mission now” mode. Exercising the patience of a sculptor working on a piece of stone. Hours dedicated just to shape a minute part of the whole sculpture. I’m not going to lie, it has been tough and even caused some depression. I’ve had to tell myself any progress is still progress. Always moving forward, never back. On the left, Junior year of high school, I was active but ate everything in sight. I worked at a fast food chain so it was convenient to eat there. Fast forward into my 20s I started lifting, eating as I should and here I am. I created a lifestyle, something I can do all year long. I found something I enjoy to keep me active.
