Dear Mama who is struggling to get her kids out the door to go to church by yourself this morning. I see you. Whether your husband is in ministry and is already off getting church ready, working, not interested, deployed or no longer part of the picture .... these days can be hard to find the reason to keep going. Chasing toddlers who don’t want their hair brushed, a baby who is clingy, a kid who already got their close dirty, someone who didn’t eat breakfast, shoes that are lost, teens who have NOTHING TO WEAR! And we can start to feel overwhelmed at why we are even trying. It would be so much easier to just stay home. .
Most of our marriage has been in ministry. Husband up and gone before we are even waking up to get ready. Driving two cars each week. And now the overwhelming job of getting our house livable again and a weekend shift every 5 weeks or so... I have found myself single parenting it to church most weeks. And it’s not easy. And we miss worship because we are so late some weeks. But we press through because I know I need the body of Christ and they need us too! We are all in this together and on those weeks I come in frazzled the Lord is so faithful to speak to my weary heart and help me reconnect with others. And the kids have time to build friendships and have someone else affirm what we teach them about God at home. .
It will be worth all the effort Mama, for your heart and your kids. You never know the impact it will have on your kids to make church a weekly priority even when it’s very hard to get there. Go and be blessed. Let the Lord minister to you and help you refocus for the coming week. #happysunday
