not my work, but a fond memory from art school!
back in 2012, our professor had his mentor and friend come in and show us how to sketch and ink like the pros in comics do, it was about 6-8 hours, and it was an amazing experience and i was able to keep one of the demonstration sketches he did for the class.
it was my first time getting to meet a comic book legend, and i still have (albeit very folded and wrinkles cause it’s been sitting in my art folder cause i have no idea how to frame it) his sketch of first generation iron man from that day.
steve rude, you were an inspiration to me, and i hope to one day meet you again and see if you’re still as impressed with my figure art as you were back in 2012!

. Who remembers Iron Man's gold armor? It had brand-new advancements like... an antenna. And gold paint. Tiny wheels on his back. And... a... a skirt?

Mysterio, master of illusion! A lot of people like to make fun of this guy's helmet, but this look was pretty cool to me! As a side note, one of my friends in junior high thought Mysterio's real name was hilarious -- Beck's song "Loser" was big at the time and my friend kept talking about how great it would be if Quentin Beck was bullied into singing the song. To be young again...

I tried drawing a classic sort of Lizard, one without sharp teeth, and it really isn't too easy to make it look good! Not enough texture and it ends up looking like Naked Movie Lizard. Mess around too much with the texture and you get Ugly Old Man Lizard. After this, I can see why a lot of 90s artists started making him look like Venom, going nuts with sharp teeth and slobber -- it's just a lot easier. Ditko's original design was the most impressive to me because I could really envision an actor inside the suit. When John Romita picked the book up, he brought in just enough extra animal ferocity to make it his own. I've always loved this character.
RIP Marie Severin. I was very sad to hear that she passed away yesterday, as she was really very underrated as a talent at Marvel. Absolutely one of the nicest and funniest professionals I ever had the pleasure of meeting. She had a great style and was really the definitive Hulk artist for me.
Love this button up Avenger shirt!
