Feeling refreshed from my mini getaway this weekend, now it’s back to reality. . . and laundry!

Touch has a grounding effect. It reminds me that I’m here. That I have a body, not just a spinning mind. It wakes up the part of me that tends to hibernate.
A real hug (with pressure). Holding my sleeping baby niece and feeling her butterfly breath against my chest. Chasing my toddler niece and snatching her high in the air then close to me for a squeeze and a kiss. Reaching over and grabbing my mom’s hand. Sitting next to my sister and sharing our energy and our experience through our skin.
Touch is so powerful. Touch is joyful when it comes, but leaves an aching when it goes. For so much of my life, I’ve been single or overseas. Often it didn’t occur to me that part of the flat energy, the fuzzy layer, the muted experience of my life was because I had gone days or weeks without loving human touch. Touch reminds me of its rightful place in my human experience. It feels like joy and then creates an ache to remind me to honor it, seek it out, create it in my life.
It makes me wonder how many others have that ache. How many others in my life would feel joy from a shared hug, a hand on theirs, an hour of sitting closer than our American bubbles deem appropriate?

Around this time of year people start to be a little more conscious about health. No one wants to get sick! Our family likes to be proactive. We drink plenty of water, eat a variety of whole foods, sleep (as much as I can with a little one 😜), and of course we use our oils! Our bodies reward us for doing so ✨
💡Nutrition Tip - Avoid high fructose corn syrup and trans fat
High fructose corn syrup is used to sweeten processed foods (even those savory ones like crackers), but the way the body metabolizes fructose encourages weight gain and does not prompt the hormones responsible for appetite regulation and fat storage to kick in. In other words, you do not feel full, and your body is storing too much fat.
Trans fat is one of the worst types of fat you can eat for its cholesterol effects, but it is even worse news for your waistline. That is because it causes a redistribution of fat tissue into the abdomen creating that classic apple shape we know is linked to type 2 diabetes while leading to a higher body weight even when calories are controlled.

I love hanging around my young adult kids, but it's hard to keep up with them these days. I definitely feel my age. Haha! But I want to spend time with them because we have great relationships, and because I know, all too soon, they are going to leave home and go out on their own.
So, even though I don't have their energy levels anymore, there are still a lot of things we do together. Here's some ideas for you if you have older teens, or young adult children:
-hiking and camping trips
-music concerts (do the mosh pit)
-cultural festivals (eat ALL the food)
-take a class together -movie marathons (lots of popcorn)
-road trips (short or long-long is better)
-games nights (be really loud)
-play loud music and have a dance party with lots of 80's music, the BeeGees, and ABBA)
-play music together and sing
-photography outings (and you must do selfies...with a selfie stick, it will totally embarass them! LOL!)
-cooking (buy your son a deep fryer and make donuts or funnel cakes together)
-crafting -look at or make a family photo album
-lunch or coffee dates (mmm..Pumpkin Spice Lattes!)
-spa days & makeovers (yes, do eachothers makeup and hair)
-and if you really want to get to know your young adult kids, start a business with them!! I have a great opportunity for you. Just ask!

Living DRESSED is rest.
Sleep is our body’s opportunity to heal and recharge.
Sleep deprivation begins with irritability and poor cognitive function or impairment and can lead to hallucinations, heart disease, obesity, anxiety, depression, diabetes and much more.
My sleep sucks. Once I had kids I became a very light sleeper and any noise disturbs me. Plus my body aches terribly so I know I roll over at least a dozen times a night to get comfy. My Fitbit definitely confirms this.
So how do I get as much sleep as possible?
I exercise AS HARD AS POSSIBLE every single day. This way my body is so exhausted it can’t help but crash out.
I avoid all caffeine after 3pm
Alcohol and food too late in the evening can cause a sugar crash between 1-4 which wakes your body so no late snacks.
And By going to bed earlier my sum total ends up with more rest.
Consistency is the key. Routines are imperative.
Remember there is hope, there is health, there IS happiness... hang in there and keep living DRESSED 💖 you CAN do it.
