Full moon this morning... Wish it wasn’t cloudy out this evening, wanted to see the eclipse. 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 Success Starts With the End. ... You know you must create a vision of your successful business. Without one, you won't know where you're headed. Once you have one, you can use “THINKING BACKWARDS” to a business plan to attain it. The first step is to write down where you want to go.
There is a Cherokee legend about an elderly Cherokee warrior who tells his grandson about life. “Grandson,” he says, “Within all of us there is a battle of two wolves. One is the black wolf. He is fear, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, laziness, self-pity, guilt, doubt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego." He continued, “The other is the white wolf. He is love, joy, peace, hope, serenity, humility, courage, kindness, benevolence, discipline, empathy, generosity, truth, confidence, compassion, and faith.” “The same fight is going on inside of you, and inside every other person, too,” explained the wise Cherokee elder. The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “So, which wolf will win?” The grandfather smiled and simply replied, “The one you feed.” I love to tell the above parable to my students because it parallels what happens in the brain with every decision we make in life. Let me explain.
I always stress to them that this is especially important when we’re outside of our comfort zones. Why? Because that’s when we decide who wins the fight - the white or black wolf, and which conquers our inner voice.
So for example, let’s say we find ourselves in a position where we are uncomfortable, be it to lead or for an exam. If we choose to listen to the black wolf’s voice of fear instead of the white wolf’s voice of courage, we just created a connection among the brain cells or neurons associated to discomfort and fear.
In this case, we’re subconsciously telling ourselves that whenever we feel discomfort, we shall become afraid and retreat.
Now, there are 2 things you need to know about neurons. Firstly, neurons that fire together, wire together and secondly, if you don’t use it, you lose it. What does this mean? In the above example, it means that the small decision we made to listen to voice of fear did two things:
1) It made the connection between discomfort and fear stronger.
2) It made listening to voice of courage harder as the brain discards that possibility by pruning away whatever connections you had to discomfort and courage.
