What I imagine The Giving Tree would look like in real life 🌳 (minus the 🍎's)

When I Am Among the Trees
When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.
I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, and discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.
Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.
And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say,
“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.” —MARY OLIVER. #springriverjax #playgardenbythesea #climbatreetoday #climbatree #welleducatedheart #waldorf #waldorfhomeschool #waldorfinspired #naturelearning #naturesclassroom #wildandfreechildren #getoutside #optoutside #wildernesskids #waldorfhandwork #letthembekids
Nature is an amazing place for the child with endless drive and ambition. 🌲 Charlie (7) has always been an overachiever and a perfectionist (wonder where he gets that from 🤔🙈). He was walking at 8 months, reading fluently at age 4, at age 6 he completely blew the mind of an Egyptian museum worker with how much knowledge he had about ancient Egypt, and the list goes on... when he sets his mind to something, it’s all he can think about. And while it is an absolute joy to witness everything this child is capable of, it also comes with a lot of frustration and struggle when he can’t master something right away.
Long ago we found out that the best way to help him calm down, take a break, and give himself time was to take him into nature. Climbing a tree has always been his favorite way to escape, blow off steam, and reset. Almost always, he can come back to the challenge at hand and make amazing headway after a nice nature break. 🌲
If your child is like Charlie, I recommend finding them a good tree... or a rock or a river or whatever spot in nature can help them reset. You’ll not only be helping them (and you!) now, but you’ll be giving them a lifelong self-regulation skill that they can use any time they need to hit the reset button. 💚
life’s short. climb a tree!
Today at the park it was Sinatra and Italian type of slow/dramatic music that they where testing for the event lol. I figured out I could do this cool trick🤷🏼♀️👍🏼. Hanging on trees is fun, I suggest you try it 🍃. .
I got super bummed out because when I stepped down to the ground I rolled my ankle pretty gnarly and it popped super loudly and I got so afraid I broke it or something. Turns out I don’t think it’s broken, just very elastic and overly bendy and susceptible to crazy hyperextending. I honestly feel like I’m elastagirl...I’m almost sure that if anyone else fell how I just did they’d have totally broken their ankle. Do I have a super power lol? 🤷🏼♀️. Maybe all along the thing that made me feel so weak and insecure and afraid and timid and unsure and different and a medical mystery (literally) is actually what makes me, well, me but in a superhuman way. Maybe all along I was just afraid of my own super power and now I find it spectacular and kind of fun 😝. The human body is really incredible. My findings with what I can do and how I can feel with/withinmy body are just never ending and evermore exciting! .
But also time to elevate the ankle still lol. 👍🏼 and lots of breathwork. superpowers don’t mean you can’t also be smart.🙏🏼
