“Every time I see light streaming in, it reminds me of you.
The winter sunlight falling on your face as you read a book.
The single file of light, through the mosque screen, filtering in through incense smoke, reminds me of you in prayers.
The subtle flicker of the lamp through village fences in courtyards, reminds me of the house we planned to have after we retire.
The light through the fog, across the canopy of pine trees, where we hiked together, reminds me of you.
The reflection of the late afternoon Sun from the mountain stream on your face, makes me remember you.
The distant city lights as I drive towards it, flickers, and I remember our drives together.
And now, as I sit, writing this, the winter Sunlight streams in through the curtain.
And I remember you.
I remember you as you touched my face with your warm hands,
as the warm Sunlight caresses mine.” Location: Bada Gumbad, Lodi Garden, Delhi, India

Though I choose to economise on a lot of things, food is never one of them. No matter where I am in the world, I will always seek out healthy options that make me feel good from the inside and provide me with some sort of nutrition. For example fruit - in some places, like Thailand, it’s more than easy to find fruit vendors at any stretch of road. But in other places, it can be more difficult and we have to spend a bit more money to buy fresh produce.
And ironically in the city, healthy food is generally more expensive. I struggled terribly in New York because I didn’t want to eat a 5$ slice of pizza and also I’m vegetarian, so I ended up having to spend tons of money and also time travelling to places that had something I could call decent (By Chloe is pretty good). But when you think about it, is the expense worth it? Is it really worth spending 10$ on an over-priced smoothie bowl, when you could grab a sandwich from the side of the road? (Not that I don’t like sandwiches).
I think it comes down to how you think about money. And for me it is nothing but an exchange of energy. We think about investing in terms of finance, but the investments I make on a day to day basis are the ones which are shaping my entire life. So yes, investing in a 10$ smoothie bowl does yield me returns. The energy I spend, comes back in the form of love for my body, which then goes out and creates more positive energy, and like this we have a virtuous cycle of sustainability.
So no I don’t think it’s about being rich. I think it’s about understanding the intrinsic value of a product and how it fits into the overall equation of the universe. Whilst I’ll spend 100$ in an organic shop, I’ll just as easily keep wearing my 5$ t-shirt for years to come. Even though we think that we need to work harder to earn more - there are tons and tons of unseen factors that decide what comes to you. Which is why I’m abundant when it feels right; and the universe somehow returns it to me in different forms.

Ever felt like you just had way too much stuff on your plate and not enough "You" to go around?
I've been feeling like that recently. I've been feeling like there's not enough in me to keep going, or rather, I have ‘just enough’ to keep going.
Sometimes the seasons of life are relentless, and we have to face challenges each day without a break for a long time. And your soul gets to the point of longing for rest, for escape. You feel weary, you feel weak, you feel worn. Sometimes it's one big thing looming above your life that feels like an immovable weight that's too big for you. Sometimes it feels like it's a million small things that are flying around your head, so many that you can't get enough time to focus on one at a time to actually handle them. You feel foggy and overwhelmed by everything.
During my last one month of travel and many of the interactions reminded me that nothing I do is ever useless or without impact, that even when I'm at a very low point, that something I do can make a difference in someone's life (even a total stranger).
I feel that by sharing what I'm going through, rather than presenting an idealized, scrubbed-clean, all-knowing front, that there is something there for other people to be encouraged by. There are too many success and happy stories out there where we don't hear about the grueling process it took to get there; the wins are emphasized and the losses are downplayed. In an effort to be inspiring, these stories end up being unrelatable or intimidating.
I've noticed that the successful people I respect and admire the most are those who achieve it while still retaining their humanity, transparency, and humility.
I'd like mine to be a story like that.
SO WHATEVER YOU'RE GOING THROUGH, YOU'RE NOT ALONE.
