Last week I went to a dinner fuelled by gin #cocktails and pretty dishes like this #dessert . Loved the new take on rhubarb and custard. You can read all about why I’m converted to jelly and custard (hint: because one of them has booze in) via the link in my bio.
“If you like pina coladaaa, and getting caught in the rain 🌧 🎶 “
It’s story time fellas 🙌
The origination of the one and only Pina Colada 😍
In Spanish, Pina colada means “strained pineapple”. It made its first appearance as a cold pineapple refreshment but started turning up in America in the early twentieth century. This daiquiri style drink is now generally referred as a Piña Colada served “Cuban Style”. 🌊
The modern Pina colada really depends on coconut cream as a key ingredient and this was founded by Don Ramoon Lopz Irizarry, when he was looking for an easier way to extract cream from the pulp of the coconut.
There were 3 bartenders who were fighting for the position of “discovering” this drink but the final verdict was that Ramon Monchito Marrero Perez created this drink first by utilising the cream of the coconut on the drink as a key ingredient.
So, interested in making this drink? 😋
