Tentatively planning a trip to Alaska next year because it has pretty much everything I love so why not?
Looking at photos from The Enchantments is making me want to explore more pretty places ✨
Hiked up to Colchuck Lake in the Enchantments with some rad people and Goose the shark. This was such a fun trip 😊
Colchuck Lake Round dos. This is becoming a yearly tradition, we both are not sure why bc every time we feel like we’re going to die BUT that view!! 👏🏻🙌🏻
Monday’s don’t always have to be a drag! It’s Mountain Crush Monday! 😍🌲⛰🤙🏾 Check ✔️this Alpine lake and Dragontrail and Colchuck Peaks off your bucket list and remember #leavenotrace
Hike info below! 👇🏾
Location: 📍 Colchuck Lake, Central Cascades, Washington State
Duration:8miles round trip, 2280 ft elevation gain
Terrain: gradually inclining your way through dense forest, crossing a log bridge, the trail becomes a little rocky and you’ll come to another log bridge to cross, after that it’s a uphill battle over rocks and roots but so worth it!
Fun fact about me: I tend to stay upbeat about most things (life, relationships, the WEATHER) but when it comes to hard physical activity, I doubt myself. This hike had an elevation gain of roughly 2300 feet and I was SO nervous. We were going with some friends who hike more than we do, with huge packs!, and I thought “I am gonna be the slow friend and hate everything.” But actually, it was fine. More than fine. I was able to hold a conversation and not huff and puff the whole way like I imagined. And this was the view at the top. It’s amazing how when you push yourself just a litttttle out of your comfort zone, you realize you’re actually way more badass then you thought. At least I do, anyway. 💁🏼♀️
Hiked to Colchuck Lake with the little man. Rain, wind, snow and sun; we got it all. Stunning and totally worth it. #colchucklake #thatwascold
A spectacular day in the mountains with these amazing humans from @chelanproject.
Thank you for letting me come along!! Colchuck you have my ❤️always.
So.. I hiked Colchuck lake again, yah I know I did it yesterday 😅.. It rained all the way up but was gorgeous and sunny for a little bit when I got to the lake. Once the clouds & wind started to come in more it got cold really fast so I booked it down. Fresh dusting of snow on top just overnight. Oh and a deer and I scared each other 5 mins from the trailhead on the way out. #colchucklake #again #whiteclaw #hiking #womenwhohike
Pure magic ❤️. Possibly the most beautiful hike I've ever done and definitely a test of my limits to do it through in a day. Thanks @brettelljack
for keeping the adventures going. This is one that won't soon be forgotten 😍. #deathmarch #enchantments #25mileslater
This place is incredible! Just 2 hours outside Seattle, near a small German town called Leavenworth. Definitely worth a visit!
Aasgard Pass report - Snow: 0
Hikers: a lot!
Colchuck Lake at around 8am.
If you ever make it to the lake as a day hike, climb up the Aasgard Pass a little to get these awesome views of the lake. I imagine the sunsets over the lake are even more epic.
Looking towards Aasgard Pass and trying to not to get intimidated by it.
It ended up being not as tough as I imagined it would be, and the hike from lake up the pass took me ‘only’ 1.5hr. The key is to pace yourself and drink lots of water, as many people experience a feeling of upset stomach after climbing almost 2,000ft in 3/4 of a mile.
Yes, I’m proud of myself for through-hiking the Enchantments in a single day. But would I do it again? Probably not.
When we make the distance our focus, we lose the celebration in our steps.
Alpine Lakes Wilderness, home to the Enchantments = a paradise of glacier-worn granite spires rising to the sky, seemingly endless turquoise blue alpine lakes, and trees shaped by the rough winter weather. Out of the thousands of people who apply each summer, Kevin and I were lucky enough to score a camping reservation from the lottery reservations system this year. Our spot was not in the highly prized core Enchantment zone but we made sure to soak in every bit of this special place that we could. We set up camp at Stuart Lake; which would be our home base to spend three days exploring the wilderness.
What I’ve seen today😎
Beat the sun up to Colchuck Lake and the crowds too. Never in all my years have I seen it so busy on those trials. When we got back, to what was a pretty empty parking lot when we started I was blown away at the amount of cars and how far they were parked down the road. Regardless, was so great to see so many people out enjoying this weather. #getoutside #outsideisfree #pnw #upperleftusa #colchucklake #hiking #goodtimeswithfriends
Oh what a beautiful summer it has been. Truly amazing filled with great memories. I pushed myself to go out exploring new places every weekend I could and now I've been to more places in 1 summer than I have all year.
A little alpine lake beauty for your feed this morning 😍 Yesterday we finally hiked to Colchuck Lake for hike number 19 and it was absolutely stunning! Such an ethereal & gorgeous place. I've been wanting to do it for years & it exceeded my expectations. We started the hike around 8 on Friday & took our time up. Arrived about 10:30 & there was hardly anyone at the lake! Spent about 2 hours there just enjoying paradise. About an hour and a half in 2 big groups showed up but it was peace & quiet for most of our time there as the other few people were quiet & spread out.
Going early on a Friday was so worth it & I'm glad we were able to take the day off! Only encountered 10 people up & many more down & I'm sure Saturday is much worse even if you start early. Wildfire smoke haze had cleared up considerably. Amazing views along the way that you probably couldn't see a week ago. The lake was still a little bit hazy but much clearer than it's been based on photos I've seen on Instagram. Imagine this view completely clear though, you could make out every little vivid detail on those epic peaks!
If you haven't done this popular hike you need to! As for difficulty I was expecting it to be crazy hard based on trip reports but I was pleasantly surprised to see it was pretty moderate and I've done harder. Don't get me wrong the elevation gain is tough, especially the last mile and a half and super rocky which hurt my knees, calves, & hips but I just didn't think it was as hard as others have said. Keep in mind though I've been hiking all summer & stay active in the gym and these are all factors. My suspicion is a lot of beginners do this trail due to social media which is why so many have said it's very difficult. As for any hike always be prepared and take your time if it's difficult for you! It's not a race & enjoy the nature!
