I got my first paycheck in three months today, which makes me feel even more joyous than I did throwing these balls in the air at @_partywith
over the weekend.
For those of you who don’t know, I lost my job at the beginning of August. The end of summer and early fall were, in a word, difficult. I made $2000 in three months from some various small projects I cobbled together. I wasn’t eligible for unemployment. Luckily, I had some savings - but I was trying as hard as I could not to completely deplete them.
When you start to worry about whether you’ll be able to buy dish soap, razors or trash bags, life can feel pretty overwhelming. I’m grateful for my friends and family who stuck by me, kept me feeling as positive as humanly possible, and even treated me to meals on occasion so I wouldn’t have to feel like I couldn’t leave my house.
I’m really excited about my new job anyway. But today? I am extremely excited about the fact that I worked hard to make things happen and it finally, literally, paid off.
