☝️ Train more ☝️
As I near my upcoming competition this Saturday, naturally I’m getting close to the end of my current training cycle. The past week or so has sparked a lot of reevaluation of my current training block, and with some inspiration and re-realization from some external sources, I’ve got an idea for my next cycle.
For the most part, I intend on doing two things; returning to the basics of training, and simply doing more work. While this fundamentally matches up with my model for periodization, the system that I currently have in place is going to need to evolve in certain aspects to accommodate for the anticipated simplicity of my next program. Simply and honestly put, my training is started to become unnecessarily complex. In the process of striving for effectiveness, efficiency, and specificity, I’ve been micromanaging my lifts to the point where I’ve either held myself back or pushed myself too hard. I need to get back to the affective side of training; I need to allow feeling and subjectivity to regain its spot in my coaching and in my own lifting.
I’ve got a really good feeling about getting back to the basics. I’ve been learning to trust my gut instinct more, and while I still appreciate and listen to the logical left side of my head, the right side has some pretty good insight into what can and will affect my training.
