Lets talk about #connections
During my #schooldays
, there used to be a half hour power cut at home between 6 pm and 10 pm. This was something done by the local government to supposedly reduce the electricity consumption by households during peak hours.
For my brother and I, this was a chill time and we used to wait for the power cut to happen because we were exempted from studying during power cut as low light was considered bad for the eyes!
My dad, mom, brother, our little bruce (my dog) and I would sit at the portico for the entire half hour, talking about how the day went, the good things that happened during the day, share jokes and stories from school.
As me and my brother got older, though the power cut was still there, we became busy in our own higher studies, we moved to different parts of the world and lost my dad to heart disease. Even if I know those little moments of #connection
will never come back again, I still wish for them to come back, and I still cherish every bit of those times even today.
What is not there anymore in today’s world are these connections. Today I see parents doing their thing, children on the mobiles, where the husband, the wife and the children are all under the same roof, but completely #disconnected
from each other.
For me, those power cuts were the time of #calmness
and perhaps most importantly - connection! .
Find out yourself what would bring these connections back in your life. It could be as simple as having at least one meal together, good if it is a dinner, around a dining table sharing good thoughts, finding about each other’s day
Sitting helps to take you out from fight-or-flight mode to relaxation mode. You eat #mindfully
well, sleep well, manage stress well in #relaxation
Eating at a table with family- you consume less than how much you will eat in front of a TV or with mobile
Improved family bonding which in turn leads to reduction in your overall stress levels and you sleep well.
Reduces stress in children and helps them sleep better. (Children are overly stressed these days! )
