-- You know, @vitaminwater
- The more I think about it the more I absolutely need the motivation to do this. Going without a smart phone for a year is not only something I can do, it's something I need to do.
Throughout my life I've always struggled with my weight and only recently have I gotten into the position that I can go and do the things I've always wanted to do - hike, explore, see the mountains, travel... but now I have a baby on the way. Not only have I partially let myself go over the last 8.5 months, but I realize how much I don't want my daughter to grow up in a world where living through your smartphone is the answer. Prioritizing the world around you, relationships, love, is so much more fulfilling.
I want my little girl to go out there and experience life and embrace it -- I want to demonstrate by example and tell them what a miracle it is to go view things yourself, and not be bogged down by everyone else's "online identity" where fear, loneliness, and depression are masked by an online persona. Everyone living fake lives for the camera, pretending they are above the struggles of this world.
I want her to live and love.
I think the modern attachment to our phones and screens in general really separate us from the life that is just out of reach.
Not only do I want to take your challenge, I want to conquer it. ~Skye
