Fridays are so so important! We live a very busy and stressful life. Friday evening is when you catch your breath after the frantic week… also, we live in times when even weekend are hectic. Thanks to kids activities and other social commitments. So Friday evening is the transition from the hectic pace of weekdays and the hectic pace of weekend. The one thing we need the most in this fast paced life is some time to relax!! Relaxation is therapeutic.. for body, mind and soul. The Q is.. what do you do to relax. Do you actually relax or add on more stress for urself. At one point, relaxation for me meant drinking, watching movie/going to bar and eating out. Staying up till late and really harming my body. Even though such choices seem pleasurable at that time, they add stress to the already stressed body and the mind. Nowadays we prefer to stay home and cook. Cooking is meditative.. it relaxes the mind and what you cook at home, also nourishes the body. Plus, spending the few carefree hours with your loved once helps calm down the mind and brings the family together. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy.. if you choose live and real ingredients, the food that you will cook will come out delicious and healthy. So tonight, we are having some good wine, sautéing some veggies in worshire sauce, sardines sautéed in spices, sambar (Indian lentils curry) and appam (Indian fermented rice bread). Friday evenings are precious.. make them healing and beautiful! Very best and TGIF!
