Recently I’ve seen a ton of posts regarding @kodiakcakes
pancakes - and dang do they look good! I just found out that they make a gluten free version which is great for people like me, but it packs a whopping 34 gram carb count with 5 grams of fiber and 4 grams of sugar. I’m not sure about you, but those nutrition facts just don’t fit into my lifestyle and eating choices. The ingredient list also includes brown sugar - so don’t be fooled into thinking these are “healthy” just because their packed with protein. The moral of the story, read product labels to discern if the marketing is correct! Not everything touted as a health food really is.
SO, I want to share with you my favorite brand of pancakes and an awesome recipe. @birchbenders
makes a mix that is not only gluten free, they are also paleo (grain free and refined sugar free). The nutrition facts for them you might ask? 16 grams of carbs, 5 grams of fiber, and <1 grams of sugar. Shut the front door! Thats less than half the amount of carbs, a stark difference in sugar content (YAY!) and equal amounts of fiber. Not only that, their original pancake mix has no refined sugars which that alone makes them a grand slam. Oh, and the last thing. A serving of their pancakes contain 7 grams of protein - can anyone say protein packed?! I’ve included my own pancake recipe using the @birchbenders
Banana Paleo mix that’s packed with even more protein. Give it a try and let me know what you think!
