Super jealous that Niki got to see this inside the Amazon sphere building. He said it didn't smell today but when it opens up it will release an odor that resembles rotting corpse 🤢☠️
to when Morticia the #CorpseFlower
just arrived at The Spheres as a tiny plant. Now she is over 75 inches tall!
Rafflesia - parasitic flowering plant, endemic to the far east!
Have you seen Morticia, our #CorpseFlower
yet? It’s still growing! If you’re in Seattle, you can catch a glimpse from the sidewalk at 6th and Lenora. Just look for the “LOOK UP!” sign.
Have photos with the #CorpsePlant
? Tag them with #sharemyspheresshot

Got my first glance of a rare Corpse Flower today. Apparently it’s supposed to bloom, like at any moment 🤔 (and naturally smell like death and all that). #corpseflower #spheres #amazon
I went to the @fullertonarboretum
today to see a comically small in comparison relative of the #corpseflower
in bloom because chance's are I'll never see the big daddy in person. The arboretum post gave its location so I strolled around sure I'd find the tree it was near since it was marked on the map. Then I saw the desert collection and got off track. I had to wander around and backtrack looking for this GIANT tree that I missed because it was across from a beautiful patch of Agave 😂 It seems like I missed the bloom but I knew I was in the right spot because ants were crawling all over it. I got on my knees and put my nose as close as I dared and it did slightly smell of poo💩 but not nearly what I was hoping for 😂🤷♀️ #icantreadmaps
Broga Hill? Nope, this one is better, it’s Bukit Tengkorak, an Archaeological & Heritage sites in Semporna, Sabah. Not only the landscape is almost same like Broga, but it can’t beat the view on top of the hill over the Celebes Sea with crazy white sandy beach islands on it, one of it is Mabul island.
A short hike with wooden stairs, platform, resting shacks & breezy weather made a great hiking moment for us & everyone. Come visit Bukit Tengkorak & its museum for free while staying in Semporna for Mabul.
Slide 4: We found ‘baby’ Pokok Lekir / (Amorphophallus titanum / Titan arum) or Corpse flower - world’s biggest flower, while hiking. Hopefully it will stay there longer until it fully blooms.

Titan Arum aka “The Corpse Flower” - It is expected to bloom soon, and when it does it smells like rotting flesh 🌸😐🤢
A tray of soil to either side , my volunteer @graciemae.adcox
and I worked this morning on repotting one of our smaller tubers of Amorphophallus titanum, also known as the corpse flower. We reported the 10-15 lb tuber back into the same pot, replacing some of the soil and re-centering and raising the tuber before filling in with more soil so that the visible roots were covered as well as the top of the tuber. The growing point, ie where the new leaf will grow up from the tuber, is now just below the new soil. From the looks of it the new leaf will be breaking the surface before long. Morticia, the Amazon #corpseflower
. Two pictures, taken two weeks apart. These pics don't do this plant justice. It's so awesome and gross and bizarre all at once. #natureisawesome
Adelaide’s 4th Titan Arum also known as the ‘Corspe flower’ is on the cusp of opening at @botanicgardenssa
🤗😲 The Corspe flower apparently smells like rotting flesh when it flowers and once the soathe starts to open it does so rapidly over a four hour period.
