How many times have you visited Britain? Comment with the number below! Sending goodies out from right here in the Lake District, England - officially my favourite place in all of England. Love this shot by @andysj11
of Ashness Bridge, Keswick with the Skiddaw mountain seemingly hovering above the clouds in the distance. The @lake.district
is so wonderfully green at the moment, like a juicy ripe apple.
This is an ancient packhorse route which you can actually drive over, with most of these packhorse bridges built between 1650 and 1760, thus straddling from the Stuart to the Georgian periods. Skiddaw mountain is made of layers of shales and mudstones formed over 450 million years ago, compressed and heated to form its own particular variety of slate. No wonder Beatrix Potter and Wordsworth loved this county!
Tip: This is easy to get to if you're driving to the Lake District. Head to Ashness Bridge in Google maps, and then after seeing this view (there is a car park just opposite) - keep driving up the narrow road to Surprise View and you may well be treated to a beautiful sunset at the top! There is even a carpark with plenty of spaces up there too. Couldn't be easier! Want to see more views from this area? Head to the dedicated @lake.district
