What if grass is greener on the other side,
Because it’s always raining there,
Where the ones who never fail to give,
Hardly have enough to spare,
Where the people with the broadest smiles,
Have pillows filled with tears,
And the bravest ones you’ve ever known,
Are crippled by their fears,
It’s filled with lonely people,
But they’re never seen alone,
Where those that lack real shelter,
Make you feel the most at home,
Maybe their grass looks greener,
Because they’ve painted on its hue,
Just remember from the other side,
Your grass looks green too. - e.h.
Serious question for photographers: I recently came across a full page ad in a decently-sized magazine with my photo being used. I was confused because I hadn’t recalled licensing that image to anyone, and after thinking about it, I remembered I have it available on stock photo websites. I checked the main site I sell on and saw it’s been licensed 4 times (once for $.99, once for $.66, and twice for $.25). I know stock photography is such a crapshoot with millions of images available and it’s something that only brings in a few hundred dollars a year for me, but it felt really weird thinking, at most, I made 99 cents off an image I shot that’s a full page print ad from a popular real estate company. Obviously as a photographer I should be responsible in knowing what licensing agreements entail, but if I didn’t have my images available, it wouldn’t mean they would be seeking out individual photographers to license a photo at a reasonable rate. They would’ve just found another photo on a stock site for cheap. So the question is, is it just the nature of the photography industry? Are stock sites giving too much rights for images at too low of a price? Should photographers not contribute images to stock sites because of having your work available for so cheap? There’s no getting rid of stock sites, so I’d be curious to hear thoughts from people who’ve been in the photography field longer than I have or just have thoughts on the issue. Thanks friends 🍻

I hope I can inspire at least one of you guys. Whatever that inspiration might be, I just hope I can help in some way. I hope to be that push that you need in your life.
On Friday I got to meet some of the people who constantly inspire me to live my life to the best of my ability, to always make the best of any situation I’m in. I appreciate the opportunity to make friends and have experiences like these.
I’ve been really hard on myself about the work I produce and it not being good enough anymore. I understand what it feels like to have tons of thoughts in your head always trying to put you down. It’s not easy to overcome it. I’m working on bettering myself and not letting my anxiety get in the way of the wonderful life I am creating.
