They say once you have kids, time really flies. One second you are bringing your baby home from the hospital and the next he is rolling back and forth. Before you know it he is crawling, sitting up and pulling up in the crib. We highly recommend to keep the following in mind as soon as you have a baby and start taking actions to baby proof sooner rather than later. There are more ways to keep your home baby proof but these are the ones we think are most important to start with. ⠀
* When baby gets up on all four, remove mobiles or hanging toys from crib.⠀
* When baby sits lower the crib one level, when baby pulls up, lower to lowest position.⠀
* Use safety gates for unsafe areas.⠀
* Install safety gates at top and bottom of stairs.⠀
* Keep knives, breakables, heavy pots, and other dangerous items locked or out of reach.⠀
* Secure oven door with an appliance latch. Secure Oven to the wall if it is a standing oven. ⠀
* Turn pot handles toward back of stove, use back burners only when possible ⠀
* Use outlet covers over unused outlets.⠀
* Use doorstops and door holders to protect babies' fingers.⠀
* Hide electrical cords or use a hide-a-cord device.⠀
* Keep blow dryers, toasters, and other appliances unplugged and out of reach.⠀
* Don’t use tablecloths, babies can pull on them and anything onto will fall down ⠀
* Mount furniture that can fall over to the wall, like bookcase or night stand ⠀
* Install a toilet-seat lock
with the sheep are about through. We decided we only wanted to keep enough to fill the front room of the barn, 20-25 is adequate. The three stalls on the side are perfect lambing jugs. The back of the barn will be for cattle (and rams, and boars)- they can winter graze in the pasture. We brought all the sheep in, sorted out ram lambs and cull ewes, diagnosed medical conditions, treated when necessary, finished and sold rams, did a second sort of ewes and kept or sold, then moved all ewes in. #phew
Quite a process but it’s nice to handle the sheep again after they’ve been out grazing all summer. Weather has suddenly turned from summer to cold. We’ve finished out cutting hay, planted fall crops, and are now trying to finish renovations of the last room of the house. #yay
I’ve been using it for homeschooling but have now relocated the classroom to the living room. And the sudden cold weather has forced us to light the woodstove #crawlingbaby

'I will get the water bottle mum!' Not only crawling like crazy but now climbing/kneeling up to reach things. Gone are the days of being able to leave things on the coffee table :-( But how best to baby-proof a house? Should you just remove all obvious hazards then let them crawl anywhere and put baby-proofing rubber patches on all corners (see table here) then gates at the doors, which I have now done for the dining room but he doesn't like being caged in (same with his new travel cot). 😭
Here in the living room we've lined the fireplace and bookshelves with all the garden and sofa cushions but it's not really a good long-term solution. Will probably get a fire guard but we need one 3m wide and I can't find that on amazon - any ideas anyone?? 🔥
What have others done to baby proof? I've tried to do the Maria Montessori approach in terms of letting him roam around and be free to explore but he often ends up with a bump on the head that way 😭

This little munchkin is almost on the move 💛😭
Is your little one fidgeting and restless in their sleep? Are they showing signs of learning a new skills?
Babies who are also going through developmental changes such as learning to sit, crawl, stand, walk can wake during these hours and begin practising their new skill.
This is important for them, resist the urge to run in and allow them to practice their new skills and resettle when they’re ready.
CANNOT believe this tiny human is already TEN months old. She might be 16.5lbs, STILL wear size 2 diapers & 6month clothes...but she is the sweetest, smiley, chatty baby around who will eat all of your food!! Oh... and she started crawling today 😳 #SteelyMae
