🥦🌍❤️🍽🚲🦖The food we choose to eat is generally the largest contribution we can each make to the improvement our health, our communities, society, and the environment. #timspector #annalappe
The adoption of a plant-based diet — which ideally is sourced locally, grown organically and determined by the seasons — benefits an individual's health through what inescapably becomes a varied & nutritious diet, alongside a reduction in refined foods. The local organic small-holder farming community is supported and given licence to do what farmers do best: turn the sun's energy into producing beautiful food in a way that enriches the earth and us. #joangussow
The adoption of a such a diet can improve your quality of life in the immediate term, and can reduce the incidence in a population of diet-linked chronic diseases such as obesity, heart disease, strokes & cancer in the longer term. Even if sourcing seasonal, local & organic produce isn't realistic, the adoption of a plant based diet by a society is itself enough to facilitate the 4th largest reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of all behavioural and structural changes we can make. Eating well has the bonus of being better for the planet. @projectdrawdown
Making those changes is difficult. It requires learning new skills and making changes to your life that are initially disruptive. MIH’s goal is to help take people on that journey: to teach, to share and to connect. You can help Made In Hackney help to achieve these transformations by attending their classes and supporting the work that they do so well.
