First snow day in the new house— Washington, DC 2019
I was having a pity party yesterday with all the recent copying/image pilfering debacles I’ve been experiencing. I happened to come across a new podcast that had an episode that discusses this topic. The podcast is called ‘Heartfelt: living a wildly creative life.’ It’s hosted by @brookebschultz
— her voice is so soothing to listen to. Brooke talked about what to do when you’re a creative who is being copied. Which, is basically most people who are putting their creations out into the world. It was a really thoughtful podcast and I appreciated hearing her perspective.
Here’s a great quote from the episode. This is what I’ve decided to commit to. In the past when I was being copied, I just stopped creating that thing. It was sad and I think I would have handled it differently back then. Now, instead of letting this get me down or make me want to just give up, I’m just going to keep creating more because it’s my passion.
I can’t stand January. Usually. It’s sucks up all of my creative energy and makes me feel listless. But this year I came at it with a different perspective and I’ve had one of the most fulfilling and productive creative seasons ever. I guess it really is all about your mindset. Life is what you make of it.
Remnants from a not so settled time •
Spent the last couple days driving all over the state, adventuring down to southwestern CO and some areas around the San Juan range. I had traveled through this area before but had never ventured all the way to some of the more southern towns like Ouray and Ridgway. I was on my way to tour a cannabis farm but took the time to stop at scenic points and enjoy the views, or snap a picture at some unique overlook. This was a solo trip, which gave me a lot of time in the car to think and daydream while traveling through the scenic mountain landscapes. Each time I travel around CO I’m constantly surprised by the amount of country to explore and the uniqueness of different regions all contained within the borders of my home state. The natural beauty this place has to offer never ceases to amaze me, even having lived here my whole life I still feel amazed at the power of these wild lands. With the recent snowfall, there were picturesque scenes throughout my drive which made the traveling a lot prettier than usual. This snap is from my first morning out and as I drove through the valley near Fairplay, CO this old building stood out against the foggy, snowy landscape. I cruised right passed the building but quickly realized I should turn around and take the couple minutes to snap some pictures. When I get in that habit of stopping to take pictures when I see the opportunity, I’ll often forget about some of the scenes I attempted to capture, then find myself surprised by some of the shots I have when reviewing photos. This is definitely one that I’m glad I took the time to shoot! •

This was my first time filming B-Roll for easter at South West church and I have to say, this was way to beautiful!
This was a sunrise service and when the sun came up, the sky was soft, and just perfect for shooting. This hour of sunrise is called magic hour, just because of how beautiful it looks on camera ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Anybody else completely OVER this cold weather 🙋🏼♀️😭
I was born and raised in New York, so you’d think after all this time i would get used to the winter... but NO! Pretty much the whole time me and MC were shooting we were both shaking and wishing the wind wasn’t so ruthless! But we did it and the shots turned out DOPE 💖
PS if you want to shoot with me drop a DM - I have days opening up next week and would LOVE to fill them with some shoots 😘😘
Leapin Lizards! Just kidding, no lizards were harmed in the making of this photo. However, there waaasss probably a lizard somewhere. For real though, why am I jumping for joy in this photo? Because I’m so darn excited to share my latest blog with you all (Ok and @scottcastelein
said jump sooo 🤔). My latest passion has been helping others navigate their own blogging journey. I seriously think everyone should consider blogging for their business and lifestyle. Whether you’re a stay at home mama starting from scratch or a small business owner already making sales on your website, blogging is for you.
In addition to all of the benefits of blogging, you can make money doing it. It's such an easy way to add another source of revenue to your income! It takes time, it takes consistency, but take it from me. I made 36 cents in my first month of consistent blogging. 36 FREAKING CENTS! If you don’t get pumped up about that number, we need to have a chat. You see, I had literally just started, didn’t have a plan, and had a humble number of people visiting my website….and I still made 36 cents! It was just the slightest glimpse of what this blogging thing could actually be and let me tell you, I now have a new drive to share the blogging world with others. It’s really not that scary and turns out, it’s a whole lot of fun.
My latest blog (Link in Bio) 6 Reasons You Should be Blogging explains why you should consider blogging in your business and/or lifestyle.
Here’s a sneak peak:
1. YOU have something to teach
3. Drive more traffic to your website
4. Improve your SEO
5. You can make money
6. Take people on a journey
Also, next week I’m dropping a free guide with 40+ blog niche ideas to get you thinking about starting your own blog. so I hope this gets your wheels turning and then the free guide can give you some direction!
Tag someone you know who has talked about blogging before but hasn’t quite gone all in. I think they’ll enjoy the blog! I think you will enjoy it too!

Not done, but you get the idea...
There will be a few times in your life when your instincts tell you to do something, something that defies logic, upsets your plan, and may seem crazy to others. But when that happens, do it. Listen to your instincts and ignore everything else. Ignore logic, ignore the odds, ignore the complications, and just go for it

💡 To create the best native design, you should always keep in mind the differences between iOS and Android platforms.
Let’s take a look at some general differences between both platforms.
1️⃣ Moving back and forth between states and screens on mobile applications is something we all do. It’s important to keep in mind that both, Apple and Google, have different native app design guidelines when it comes to navigation. For example, Android is using their global navigation bar, which works in almost every Android app, to move a step back. The Apple design approach is different. All Apps should have a native navigation bar with a back button in the top left corner which has a big impact on the overall iOS design.
2️⃣ In-App navigation patterns. To quickly switch between main sections of an app, the Human Interface Guidelines from Apple recommend using the tab bar, that appears at the bottom of the app screen. Since each additional tab reduces the tappable area for selecting a tab and increases the complexity, Apple recommends to only use up to 5 tabs in the tab bar. Android is using a good combination of tabs and the navigation drawer that provides access to your top-level destinations in your app.
3️⃣ Differences between action sheets in iOS and modal bottom sheets in Android. There’s a modal bottom sheet used in Android which provides room for additional items, longer descriptions, and iconography. For example, an app list that appears after the user taps the share icon. There's a similar component in iOS, named action sheet, which has the same functionality but looks different.

Our Throw Back Thursday quilt is from issue 20, called "Spritz" by Missy Winona and Kimie Tanner @onwilliamsstreet.
Improv doesn’t have to mean chaotic – with a controlled fabric scheme and a lot of negative space, it makes for an extremely striking design with an aesthetically pleasing minimalistic style. Purchase the pattern now in issue 20 by clicking on the link in our profile and going to our back copy section.
Another still from the video shoot for Call to Mind. My husband @spencerholleman
filmed the video while we were visiting his family in Ivor, Virginia over Christmas. Y’all, winter there is just beautiful, and it’s also beautiful that I have a husband who is so creative and we can be creative together. Sorry that’s a little sappy. But really, it’s such a gift! I can’t wait to share this video with you! 💕
What we know for sure: even living in paradise doesn’t insulate you from having anxious thoughts or latent creative ideas that need nurturing. How best to address? Putting pen to paper. Tomorrow we’re hosting a completely sold out AllSwell journaling workshop in Kailua, Oahu at @alohasuprette
