It's about to be one hopping next two weeks at the @delighthouse
and we honestly couldn't be more excited! 🎉
Earlier this weekend, we hosted our first #dinneranddelight

Tomorrow, one of our photography group leaders @senecaryanco
is flying in. Thursday, the [Be] Understood leaders arrive. And Friday, we kick off the FINAL #delightworkshop
of the year and our seven sweet girls arrive from all over the country. 😱🎉
After we wrap up the workshop, we have more friends arriving. The Delight House back porch is going to be filled with music by our friend @hollystarr
and laughter and lights as we celebrate fall & community. And then we will be spending a solid three days working on projects for 2019 with a dream team!
Wahooo, wild October, right?! 😅 There are so many fun things in store that we can’t wait to share with you, so stay tuned! 🙈🎉

If sharing is caring then I've got a lot to say... 😂
A lot has happened since my last post here way back when the cherry blossoms were showing off 🌸 The biggest update is at the end of the list, by the way!
A small summary:
🔶 My podcast with @rlwphillips
was awarded Best Podcast in the Memphis Flyer's Best of Memphis by the voting public 🎧 Check it out @memphistypehistory
🔶 Worked with the ladies of @pinegateroad
to update Landmark Partner @urbanpurpose
's website and I'm LOVING the fresh new look!
🔶 Completed the branding for a new company launching soon (can't wait to share all about it!) 🎉 Next stop is developing a marketing plan + done-for-you email sequences + client welcome and goodbye packs to support the launch!
🔶 Welcomed new Landmark Partner @amakersstudio
into the fam 😘 Enjoyed seeing their official launch festivities this weekend and was definitely back in Memphis with them in spirit.
🔶 Pulled off a beautiful fundraising banquet alongside @urbanpurpose
and couldn't be happier with the wonderful evening they created for their supporters!
🔶 Began work on the next big phase of Horton Brand Strategy (and no, it's NOT a course 🤔 but I can't tell you much more for several more months)
🔶 The biggest news of all though, as we grew as a company and as our clients grew, was that my family grew too! 💖 My husband and I welcomed home our new son in January (yeah, he's not so new now) and he's brought so much joy and light to our lives... and other stuff too - you know how it is!
🔶 I've missed all of you here and even though I've seemed MIA I assure you that all that ☝is just the tip top of the iceberg 🤗 I plan to be around a bit more so please say hello and share your latest! 🌴 Because sharing is caring 💕
I knew that @ceoyeah
would be healing for the soul, but the way it is unfolding is a kind of magic that only happens when a group of deeply passionate creative women entrepreneurs gather in the desert and share from their heart. So much gratitude, and day 1 isn't even over.

When Kristen asked if I do Portraits I told her YES 🌱. When she asked if I could do one for each of her babes, I wish I could show her my excitement. Such a dream. Watercolor, Pencil, and Ink are the purest forms of mediums for me. Earth tones + Blush, speaking right to my heart. I can't wait for you to see the rest.
Your DM's have meant the world to me. I'll have a link tomorrow morning. I'm only taking a handful of commissions to ensure mid-December Deliveries. Please don't hesitate to send me a message if you have any questions.
Believe you can do anything, believe you deserve it, believe you’ll get it and you will. 🖤

Saturday’s sunset warmed things up for Brittany and Matt! We spent the last few minutes of sunset taking photos in the fields around their rustic venue 💕 You can see just how much Matt adores his new wife!
About this weekend 🚲 ☀️ 🌊
Our team showed up and did an amazing job cycling soooo many miles!
This was our 10th year as Team Spanish Beer, riding for a cause - one that’s near and dear to my heart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My grandfather suffered from Multiple Sclerosis. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our team rides for those who have suffered and are suffering from MS. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our loved ones, our friends, our neighbors, we do this every year to help raise funds and awareness, so we can help the @mssociety
fulfill their mission of creating a world free of MS. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m so proud of our team and all of our riders. They are so inspiring. Day 1 consisted of 100 miles, and Day 2 was 77. Team Spanish Beer and all of the cyclists from this event are serious rock stars ✨
Swipe to see all the fun pictures from this weekend 👉🏼 (swipe all the way to see an amazing sunrise as they hit the road for day 2!)
And, if you want to help us reach this year’s goal, head over to the link in profile to donate to the National MS Society through our team. We’re currently 86% of the way to our goal, I know we can get to 100%!! 👆🏼
Here’s to another great year, another great ride, and to creating a world free of MS!!
My husband picks on me because every weekday night at 7:00pm you can find me on the couch watching Wheel of Fortune 👵🏼 (...but he always ends up watching it with me and we shout at the TV and high five each other when we get the puzzle right before the contestants.) Anyone else love this show? 😂
"Shake me down, not a lot of people left around.
Who knows now? Softly laying on the ground,
Not a lot of people left around...
In my life I have seen people walk into the sea,
Just to find memories plagued by constant misery.
Their eyes cast down, fixed upon the ground,
Their eyes cast down
I'll keep my eyes fixed on the sun."

As a business owner, your "why" is what allows you to land your dream clients and continue to grow your business. People connect with the WHY of what you do just as much as the products and services you offer. In fact, they might connect with the why more.
Make sure you have yours clearly defined on your site. People should be able to go to your website and easily learn about you, what you do, and WHY you do it. So let's get some practice in — share your reason for starting your business below! 👇🏻
What made you start this entrepreneurial game?
I was inspired by a post from @bossgirlrenovations
(a fellow #launchgal
) the other day where she gave thanks to the woman that inspired her and gave her the tools to start her own online blog - if you are interested in hearing an amazing story of how BGR came to be, then check her out!
But it got me thinking, who inspired me to go down this road and start my own multiple online businesses?
At first I thought of JK (my main gal @jennakutcher
) and the Oprah-worthy @marieforleo.
Then I realised, I only found them six months into my biz, so who actually inspired me?
It got me thinking about who I was in school...
By the time I was 12, I had set up my own blog on Blogspot called Young & Reckless (I know, cringe worthy!) it was a fashion blog and I used to create outfits on Polyvore and upload them to the blog where I would then write a review online. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then a ton of normal adolescent things happened, I moved schools, got into the right, but wrong crowd and by the time I was 15 I got myself into a really bad situation that could have ended my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From there I started a journey that lasted 4 years, a journey to find myself. I wrote a blog called 'Finding Kira', I read books, I studied hard, I spent my lunch times in the art rooms and I dreamt about the future I could soon have when I graduated and moved to the other side of the country. Which I did, I then started my degree, lived independently and worked and interned literally anywhere that would let me pursue my passions. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Those four years were life changing and I can't exactly pinpoint what it was that inspired or influenced me, because it was the entire journey that made an impact. The people I met, the books I read, the TV shows I watched (anyone else love OTH!?) and the passion projects that kept me dreaming. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Can anyone else relate? Was it one thing that inspired you? Or was it the journey? Share your's in the comments below! - Kira x
Words cannot describe last week. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I flew up to Ontario to attend @imperfectbosses
camp and came back to New Jersey totally inspired and with a ton of new friends. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Camp was filled with so many takeaways that I’m still trying to process. It was such an incredible experience. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I honestly just want to keep gushing about it, but I don’t know how to put it into words. So I’ll leave it at that.
PS: look at that view! I absolutely loved waking up to that every morning!
I had the honor of meeting one of #TheVenueAcademy
’s students in person this weekend and it was EVERYTHING! I’m so incredibly proud of her heart, work ethic, and tenacity. 💃🏼 I was hesitant to create an online course because I didn’t want to lose that personal connection that I treasure so much with my clients. But let me tell you being able to hear what she has planned and how she’s implementing the material really opened my eyes and made me so proud of her! 🙌 #TheVenueAcademy
closes in a little over 24 hours - DM me if you have any questions at all. I’d hate to see you miss out on being a founding member!
What started off as allergies turned into a cold which, turned into an infection...and I’ll be honest, after two weeks, it’s been frustrating! Ugh!
I’ve been itching to go to the gym. I’ve been so ready to start scheduling interviews and record my new podcast. I really wanted to go to a local arts festival and farmers market with Matt this past weekend. The more I resisted my body’s call for help, the worse it got. I’ve finally surrendered to let my body feel and heal. Being sick has finally let my body’s message get through that I need to be taking better care of myself.
Sometimes plans change, which is hard for me as a planner, but it’s allowed me to rest and realign my focus. And while it’s frustrating, it feels so good. I’m ready to heal and for now I will rest. ☕️ In the meantime, anyone have any sick day tips, food or drink suggestions, etc. that they recommend?
who took this beautiful photo for my brand! ✨
Just about this time last year, I read "Women Rocking Business" and found myself flying to Hawaii to meet author @sagelavine
. That trip changed my life forever. I learned from Sage how to create a 4 day workweek for myself, and I've consistently taken each Friday off of my normal work and business calls. ⠀
Yes folks, I work 16 days a month.⠀
When I met Sage in Hawaii last year, she told us that "off days" could be used to spend time on ourselves, on a special project, or even just to do nothing and rest. She'd just launched a Num.1 bestselling women's business book and had used her Fridays to write her book. ⠀
I've been using mine over the past few months to write my Walmart and Amazon courses. Online courses were never on my radar last year, so I spent about half a year just enjoying my Fridays off by breakfasting with my husband at one of our favorite local spots. Or I'd book a massage. Or read a book. Or take a nap. :)⠀
I LOVE the freedom that business ownership allows to work from anywhere in the world. The beaches of Florida or Hawaii are my favorite places to get some inspiration and work done. But I also love to curl up on my couch in front of my fireplace and giant windows in my jammies with a hot cup of tea or coffee. ⠀
As we move into Fall, with cooler days and earlier nights, I encourage you to figure out how to make your schedule work into 4 office days a week. Spend some time with yourself on Fridays. Maybe start up that blog or book you've been dying to begin. ⠀
Fall is about reflection, and going within. Letting things go that are no longer working for you. What new thing would you like to create?
I love second shooting because it really gets allllll of my creative juices flowin! Especially when @6ftamber
finds all of the magical light for me to work with! ✨
