This has been a very long time coming....Anni Albers at Tate Modern is now open! Having been so fortunate to be invited to spend three months as artist in residence @albers_foundation
in 2006, I had the privilege of being able to explore the archive of Josef and Anni’s work. Being able to have such an intimate relationship with the work was incredible. I am absolutely thrilled that we have such a wonderful exhibition of Anni’s work here in London @Tate.
This is an exhibition that requires many visits. In addition, the Tate have organised a series of talks to be held during the exhibition. The first was with Nicholas Fox Weber (founder and Executive Director of the Albers Foundation) who spoke very movingly of his personal relationship with Josef and Anni Albers, sharing many anecdotes of the time he had spent with them and especially Anni in her latter years. Nick was then joined by the two curators of the exhibition, Ann Coxon and Briony Fer, and Achim Borchardt-Hume Director of Exhibitions at Tate Modern to talk about their individual relationships with Anni’s work and share some of their journey and thought process in curating this beautiful exhibition. It was a very special evening and a great privilege to be given such an insight into her private life (thank you NFW). #annialbers #artist #spirit #weaver #weaving #bauhaus #blackmountaincollege #tatemodern #london #albersfoundation #nickfoxweber #archimborchardthume #brionyfer #anncoxon #curators #kunstsammlungnordrheinwestfalen
