The hiring season for CSJ 2018 has begun & employers across the country are now accepting applications!! Canada’s young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow – they are leaders today! Last summer I had the privileged to meet all our CSJ students in Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge; here’s just one of the many stories that I got to hear from last year’s CSJ students:
Thanks to Canada Summer Jobs funding, the Downtown Maple Ridge BIA (@shopmapleridge
) was able to hire an exceptional summer student named Natasha Gosling. The BIA hosts events & festivals, and takes on projects & programs to help local businesses.
Natasha was able to help plan these events and run the office. She had the opportunity to combine her love of music with event planning & made connections with other people in the music industry. Natasha said afterwards, “It’s a lot of fun working with musicians & vendors. I want to be a music teacher & I’ve been in choirs my whole life at church & school.”
Now Natasha has a foot in the door for a future career and, in turn, @yourmapleridge
benefitted from Natasha’s hard work in putting together fun community events for families. This year, even more students like Natasha will have the opportunity to develop their skills & gain valuable work experience through Canada Summer Jobs 2018!
