Ever since eating at Next four years ago, visiting Alinea has been on the top of my food bucket list. After many failed attempts at making a reservation (and trying every other @thealineagroup
restaurants) I finally made it in and it was worth the wait. Every course combined theatrics and precisely cooked food to create one of my most memorable dinning experiences to date. Each dish was a hit with the exception of the squab (overpowering bbq sauce, @smythchicago
Squab from the prior night was many times better) and it is almost impossible to pick a favorite. My only regret was I was only able to secure a booking for the shorter Salon menu but at least that gives me an excuse to revisit and try the longer gallery experience.

On a side note, I was surprised to see both @grant_achatz
(swipe right) and executive chef @simon.a.davies
in the kitchen given we were dinning at 9PM on a Sunday. After 10+ years and winning almost every award possible, it was great to see them still putting in work at time of day most restaurants would have the “B” team on.
